Konecny is under the weather, so he will not be available for Saturday's game vs. the Maple Leafs. Hayden Hodgson was scheduled to be a healthy scratch but will remain in the lineup to replace Konecny.
Travis Konecny News
The Flyers' COVID-19 protocol list continues to grow, as both Konecny and Travis Sanheim were added on Wednesday. They going Claude Giroux, Ivan Provorov, Nick Seeler and Jackson Cates--all will likely miss Thursday's game.
Konecny has been sidelined since February 7th but will return to the lineup Tuesday in Pittsburgh. Konecny, who has eight points (5G / 3A) in 12 games, will replace Nicolas Aube-Kubel and skate on the fourth line with Connor Bunnaman and Michael Raffl.
The Flyers will return to the ice for the first time in 10 days after a COVID-19 outbreak but will do so without six regulars. Konecny, Claude Giroux, Jakub Voracek, Justin Braun, Oskar Lindblom and Scott Laughton will all miss Tuesday's game against the Rangers.
Konecny was held without a shot in 17:33 TOI in Thursday's win and has just one assist and one shot in his last three games. Head coach Alain Vigneault was displeased with his top-6 despite the win and it looks like he was particularly unhappy with Konecny, who could be a healthy scratch on Saturday. Konecny stayed on for extra work with the scratches following the morning skate, so look for Samuel Morin to replace him vs. the Islanders.
Konecny missed the last three games with a concussion that he suffered on December 7th vs. the Senators. He was back on the is for Monday's morning skate and will play on the top line with Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier. Konecny has three goals and one assist in his last four games.
Konecny was forced to leave Saturday's game against the Senators after being crushed by Mark Borowiecki in open ice. Konecny was visually shaken by the hit, left immediately and did not return to the game. On Monday, the Flyers announced that he is out indefinitely with a concussion, so expect him to miss at least one week.
Konecny ranks 33rd in the NHL in even-strength goals (43) over the last two seasons while playing 15:05 ATOI. In 2020, Konecny figures to be a staple on the top line with Sean Couturier and Claude Giroux and should see a lot more ice-time. That should allow him to get over 200 shots and 24 goals while chipping in close to 30 assists.
Konecny left Friday’s practice after being hit by an Ivan Provorov shot, but said that he expects to play this afternoon vs. the Golden Knights. Konecny has just one assist and a minus-4 rating in four games this season.
Konecny took an Ivan Provorov shot off of his foot in practice and hobbled off of the ice on Friday morning. This clouds Konecny’s status for Saturday’s game vs. the Golden Knights. If Konecny doesn’t play, the Flyers will be without two of their second line forwards with Nolan Patrick out for at least one week with an upper-body injury.
Konecny has been sidelined since February 6th, but will return to the lineup tonight in Washington. Konecny has had a nice rookie season, scoring seven goals and 15 assists (22 points) in 51 games. Konecny will likely replace Dale Weise or Matt Read in the lineup.
Konecny will miss his ninth straight game with a lower-body injury, but is at least one week ahead of schedule. Monitor his status prior to Saturday’s game in Washington.
Konecny was already slated to miss 4-6 weeks, so his movement to IR was simply a formality to create a roster spot for the Flyers to recall Jordan Weal from Lehigh Valley (AHL). Konecny is expected to be out until at least early-to-mid March.
