van Riemsdyk was scratched on Sunday and was placed on IR after puck-drop. Michal Kempny replaced him in the lineup vs. Dallas and should remain in the lineup moving forward.

van Riemsdyk missed the last four games while in COVID-19 protocol but is set to play Wednesday in Chicago. van Riemsdyk will be back in a familiar spot on the Capitals' third pairing and comes in with seven assists in 24 games this season.

van Riemsdyk will not play Saturday after being added to the COVID-19 protocol list after the morning skate. Matt Irwin will make his season debut with van Riemsdyk out.

van Riemsdyk suffered a shoulder injury in Game 2 vs. the Islanders and will miss the rest of the year after undergoing surgery. Haydn Fleury has replaced van Riemsdyk on the back-end and Jake Bean has been recalled as a reserve defenseman heading into the Eastern Conference Finals.

van Riemsdyk has recorded just two assists in 18 games so far this season and based on Saturday’s practice he will be replaced by Klas Dahlbeck in the lineup this afternoon.

van Riemsdyk has missed the last two games with a concussion, but he will join the team on their current road-trip. Although he will meet the team in Edmonton, there is no word whether or not he will play tomorrow.

van Riemsdyk was sidelined by a concussion in the season opener and is expected to miss at least the next four games as the Hurricanes head out to western Canada. Look for Carolina to recall a defenseman from Charlotte (AHL) to serve as a seventh defenseman.
