Bertuzzi will miss 3-4 weeks with tendon inflammation in his wrist.

This is an unfortunate injury for Bertuzzi, who was expected to open the season with the Red Wings after dazzling in the AHL playoffs last spring. Bertuzzi could still be a Red Wing when he’s healthy, but this injury opens the door for Martin Frk or Luke Witkowski to open the season as their No.12 forward.

The Red Wings have placed Tyler Bertuzzi (lower-body) on IR.

Bertuzzi had to be helped off of the ice during the Red Wings’ overtime loss to the Canadiens on Saturday. Bertuzzi’s injury will force him to miss at least one week, so they’ve placed him on IR. Tomas Jurco has been recalled from Grand Rapids (AHL) to take Bertuzzi’s spot on the roster.

Bertuzzi failed to record a point while averaging 9:58 TOI in three games with the Red Wings during his call-up. With Anthony Mantha playing well in his season debut and the Red Wings wanting to get Drew Miller back into the lineup, they have returned Bertuzzi to the AHL, where he’ll get more playing time.

The Red Wings have recalled Tyler Bertuzzi from Grand Rapids (AHL).

Bertuzzi, 21, was a second round pick in 2013 (58th overall) and is expected to make his NHL debut this week. Bertuzzi had an excellent preseason and training camp and has since added four points (2G / 2A) in nine games with Grand Rapids. He should bring some much needed energy to a Red Wings team that has lost five in a row.
