Bozak will come out of the lineup on Monday due to an upper-body injury so the Blues will go with 11 forwards and seven defensemen. Patrick Marron will draw back in for Bozak, who is questionable for Tuesday’s game vs. Dallas.
Bozak is a No.2/No.3 line centre with some offensive ability. Bozak skates very well and is good on the face-off dot. The 32-year-old has scored 20-plus just once during his nine year career, but has registered 30-plus assists in three of the last five years. Bozak was likely going to be the Blues second-line centre, until they acquired Ryan O’Reilly from Buffalo—pushing him down the depth chart.
Bozak miss Saturday’s game in Vancouver with an illness, but is expected to be back between James van Riemsdyk and Mitch Marner tonight vs. the Flames. Bozak has had a slow year so far, collecting just four goals and seven assists (11 points) in 27 contests.
Bozak did not hit the ice this morning, but head coach Mike Babcock said he expects his centre to be in the lineup tonight. If Bozak can’t play, Eric Fehr will make his Maple Leafs’ debut and Brian Boyle will move up the lineup.
Bozak missed Friday’s practice and was not on the ice for Saturday’s morning skate, so Mike Babcock has listed him as a game-time decision for tonight’s contest with the Canadiens. With Bozak not available this morning, Ben Smith skated in his spot between James van Riemsdyk and Connor Brown.
