Wade Redden News

Defenseman Wade Redden has announced his retirement after 14 NHL seasons.

Redden was picked 2nd overall pick in 1995 by the New York Islanders. He never suited up for the Isles and started his NHL career with the Senators where he played 11 seasons (1996-08). After Ottawa he played for the Rangers, Blues and Bruins. He played a total of 1023 games, recording 109 goals and 348 assists (457 points). He was a two-time All-star and represented Canada at the 2006 Winter Olympics.

The St. Louis Blues have traded Wade Redden to the Bruins in exchange for a 2014 7th round pick.

With the Blues' recent additions of Jordan Leopold and Jay Bouwmeester they did not need Redden anymore. He will be reunited with his former Ottawa teammate Zdeno Chara. He has two goals and three assists in 23 games this season.

Redden will be a healthy scratch tonight.

After being bought out by the Rangers and coming to the Blues, Redden scored 2 goals in his first 3 games. Since then on the Blues current 5 game losing streak, Redden has been a minus player in all 5 contests and is a -7 overall. This isn't good news for Redden. Kris Russell will assume Redden's spot on the blueline.
