No Blake Wheeler or Zach Bogosian at practice in Ottawa.

Sounds like Bogosian is out for today's game. Before getting hurt, the former 3rd overall pick was on his way to a bounce-back season, scoring three goals and 19 points through 42 games. By comparison, he registered only 17 points last year.

It's not expected that Zach Bogosian (lower-body) will be on the shelf long-term but he's not on the ice at practice today for #winnipegjets

Sounds like you can rule Bogosian out for this weekend's festivities. Before getting hurt, the former 3rd overall pick was on his way to a bounce-back season, scoring three goals and 19 points through 42 games. By comparison, he registered only 17 points last year.

That means Bogosian will be in the Jets’ lineup as they face the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday at RBC Center (6 p.m., TSN Jets, TSN 1290).

Bogosian will play despite delivering a questionable hit on Wednesday evening. While the former highly-touted defenseman has been solid by the Jets' standards, his six assists are a letdown to fantasy hockey owners who expected more.

Zach Bogosian, one of Winnipeg’s ice-time leaders, will miss Tuesday evening’s team skills competition with an undisclosed injury.

Bogosian could miss Thursday's game against the Washington Captials. The former 3rd overall pick scored five assists through 18 games prior to the injury.

However, this was different and when Winnipeg Jets head coach Claude Noel tapped him on the shoulder, Bogosian was asked to jump up from his familiar post on defence to play right wing.

Bogosian adding wing eligibility slightly helps his fantasy hockey value. Last season, the enigmatic defender scored only five goals and 17 points for the Atlanta Thrashers. If coach Claude Noel continues to put him in high-leverage offensive situations, Bogosian could approach 10 goals again.

With training camp just around the corner, the Jets signed defenceman Zach Bogosian to a two-year deal for $5 million, according to capgeek.com.

Bogosian will look to improve on his worst professional season where he scored 5 goals and 17 points in 71 games. While the former third overall pick displayed mounds of talent in Juniors, his production has been sporadic over his three NHL seasons. A change of scenery, system and coach could help him improve this season but be cautious before paying for his potential.

“A lot of times I was going against the other team’s top lines. It’s good to get experience like that. I know I’m not going to blow anyone out of the water every year. But you just take it in stride and try to move forward. You can’t dwell on it.”

Not exactly words you want to hear from a budding defensive star. Sounds like Bogosian lost a bit of confidence over his first three seasons and could be hurt even further by moving to a hockey market with actual pressure. Monitor this situation closely as Bogosian has high-end potential which could be filled in the right situation.
