Kassian was released from a PTO by Anaheim at the end of the preseason and has announced his retirement after 12 NHL seasons on Wednesday. The 32-year-old played 661 games for four different NHL teams (EDM, VAN, BUF, ARI) and had 92 goals, 203 points and 913 PIMs. He last played for Arizona in 2022-23, where he had two goals, zero assists, 50 PIMs and a -18 plus/minus in 51 games played.
Kassian missed the Coyotes' previous game due to an upper-body injury and will not play Wednesday vs. Edmonton. The 32-year-old has two goals, 25 SOG, 50 PIMs and a -18 plus/minus through 51 games this season.
Kassian will draw back into Arizona's lineup for the first time since Dec. 7th and will be hoping to improve on his one goal, -8 plus/minus and 34 PIMs through 13 games he has picked up in his first season in the desert.
It will be the first time Kassian has played against his ex-team since being acquired by the Coyotes in the offseason. The 31-year-old bruiser has a goal and a -6 plus/minus while struggling through his first 12 games in Arizona.
Kassian has not played since October 30th due to a lower-body injury but will return earlier than expected Wednesday vs. Carolina. In eight games prior to the injury, the 31-year-old veteran has one goal and a -5 plus minus along with 13 PIMs.
Kassian took a puck to the face in Wednesday's loss to the Blackhawks and is expected to be out for at least one month. Brendan Perlini or Kyle Turris will likely replace him on Friday.
Kassian missed Saturday's win over the Flames but is expected to be back in the lineup on Tuesday. Kassian, who has five goals and eight assists (13 points) in 28 games, will skate on the third line with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Brendan Perlini.
Kassian was not on the ice for Saturday's morning skate and is questionable to play vs. the Flames. Kyle Turris skated in his spot in practice.
Kassian has not played since December 18th but is expected to play Wednesday in Toronto. Kassian will replace Derek Ryan, who is now in COVID-19 protocol.
Kassian will likely be out until at least the middle of next week after being moved to the COVID-19 list yesterday. Kassian had been skating on the top line with Connor McDavid but Zach Hyman is expected to take his spot back on Wednesday.
Kassian missed the last three games with a lower-body injury but will play Tuesday in Winnipeg. Kassian will be back on the third line with Ryan McLeod and Warren Foegele and comes in with three goals and two assists in 10 games.
Kassian was hurt in the first period in the Oilers loss to the Red Wings on Tuesday. Kassian appeared to get hurt after missing a big hit on Moritz Seider and did not return. Expect Kyle Turris to replace him in the Oilers' bottom-6.
Kassian sustained a concussion in the preseason and will miss tonight’s game vs. the Canucks but could be back for Saturday’s meeting with the Flames. With Kassian out, the Oilers signed Colton Sceviour to a one-year contract today and he will play on the third line.
Kassian's status for the Oilers season opener is up in the air. If he is unable to play on Wednesday, the Oilers may have to sign Colton Sceviour to take his place. Head coach Dave Tippett said that he expects Sceviour to replace Kassian on the third line with Derek Ryan and Warren Foegele if he is unavailable.
