Senators, Brady Tkachuk Agree To Seven-Year Contract
The Ottawa Senators and Brady Tkachuk have finally come to terms on a deal with the team’s first game right around the corner.
According to Frank Seravalli, Tkachuk’s deal will be worth $57,500,000 over seven years, good for an $8,214,000 annual cap hit. Seravalli also reports that Tkachuk’s contract doesn’t feature any signing bonuses.
Tkachuk was selected by the Senators with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2018 draft. He immediately broke into the NHL with a 22-goal season as a 19-year-old in 2018-19 and followed that up in 2019-20 with a 21-goal season. In the COVID-shortened 2021 campaign, Tkachuk scored 17 goals over 56 games, which is the same pace he operated at over his first two seasons in the league.
Upon the expiration of his entry-level deal, Tkachuk was the final marquee restricted free agent to ink a contract. Vancouver’s Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson a couple of weeks ago and joined their teams in training camp, but Tkachuk hasn’t appeared in any of Ottawa’s preseason games.
The Senators will open their season on Thursday night as they host the Toronto Maple Leafs. Seravalli reports that the expectation is that Tkachuk will be in the building but he won’t suit up for the team.
