Boston Bruins News

Rask will start Saturday vs. the Blackhawks.

Rask allowed two goals on 33 shots in the Bruins win over the Flyers on Thursday. Rask has won three in a row while posting a 2.98 GAA and .901 SV%. This afternoon he will make his 43rd start of the season vs. the Blackhawks—Rask is 18-5-2 with a 2.07 GAA and .926 SV% on home ice and Chicago is 5-12-1 in 18 games since the start of February.

Tuukka Rask
Rask (lower-body) will be back between the pipes on Thursday.

Rask allowed four goals on 26 shots in the Bruins win over the Penguins last Thursday. Anton Khudobin started the last two games but it looks like Rask will return from a minor lower-body injury tonight vs. the Flyers. The 30-year-old stopped all 28 shots that he faced in a 3-0 shutout in early-December.

Korpisalo will make his second straight start on Thursday.

Korpisalo stopped 37 of 38 shots in the Blue Jackets win over the Golden Knights on Tuesday. It was a great outing for Korpisalo, who will start the front-end of the Blue Jackets’ back-to-back tonight vs. the Avalanche. The 23-year-old has gone 5-2-0 with a 2.27 GAA and .931 SV% in eight games on home-ice.

Joonas Korpisalo
Zacha (upper-body) will not play Thursday vs. the Jets.

Zacha was hurt Tuesday vs. the Canadiens and will not play against Winnipeg on Thursday. Zacha has been held pointless in his last eight games, so his fantasy value has plummeted anyways. Brian Gibbons (thumb) may be ready to replace Zacha in the lineup tonight.

Pavel Zacha
Zacha left Tuesday’s game with an undisclosed injury and did not return.

Zacha played just 8:53 TOI and did not return for the third period of yesterday’s win over the Canadiens. The Devils didn’t have an update on Zacha’s status postgame, so consider him questionable heading into Thursday’s game vs. the Jets.

McAvoy will miss at least four weeks with a left MCL sprain.

McAvoy got tangled up in the corner during his first shift against the Red Wings over the weekend. The injury ended up being a sprained MCL and will cost him at least one month. The good news is that his season isn’t over and McAvoy should be ready to go for the playoffs.

Charlie McAvoy
Korpisalo will start Tuesday vs. the Golden Knights.

Korpisalo allowed five goals on 34 shots in the Blue Jackets loss in Los Angeles last Thursday. With Sergei Bobrovsky (illness) not available tonight, Korpisalo will face the Golden Knights on home-ice. The matchup isn’t ideal, but the 23-year-old has gone 4-2- 0 with a 2.47 GAA and .924 SV% at Nationwide Arena this season.

McAvoy (lower-body) will not play on Tuesday.

McAvoy played just one shift on Saturday and will miss Tuesday’s game vs. the Red Wings. McAvoy will be re-evaluated later on Monday and his status beyond Tuesday’s game could be updated in the next 24 hours. With McAvoy out, Adam McQuaid will re-enter the lineup.

Rask led the Bruins onto the ice for warmups.

Rask surrendered three goals on 32 shots in the Bruins overtime win over the Hurricanes on Tuesday. Rask has won three of his last five starts despite allowing a combined 14 goals on 135 shots (.896 SV%). Tonight he takes on the Penguins for the second time this season—he gave up six goals on 35 shots in a 6-5 OT loss in the first meeting.

Korpisalo will start Thursday in Los Angeles.

Korpisalo allowed five goals on 27 shots in the Blue Jackets’ loss in Toronto on February 14th. Korpisalo will start the front-end of Columbus’ back-to-back tonight in Los Angeles. Korpisalo has gone 1-4-0 with a 4.04 GAA and .877 SV% on the road this season and he has a stiff test vs. a Kings team that has won five of their last seven.

Johnson (undisclosed) “should be in” Wednesday vs. the Sabres.

Johnson was banged up late in the Lightning shootout win over the Maple Leafs on Monday. Johnson took part in the morning skate and was on a line with J.T. Miller and Chris Kunitz and is expected to be in tonight. Johnson has two goals and one assist during a three-game point streak.

Tyler Johnson
Rask led the Bruins onto the ice for warmups.

Rask allowed four goals on 36 shots in the Bruins loss in Toronto on Saturday. After a ridiculous run, Rask has now lost two go his last three games while allowing a combined nine goals on 73 shots (.877 SV%). Despite the rough stretch, Rask is a must-start on home-ice vs. the Hurricanes—he is 15-5-2 with a 1.94 GAA and .930 SV% at the TD Garden this season.

Tuukka Rask
Bergeron will miss at least two weeks with a fractured right foot.

Bergeron was hurt in Toronto on Saturday but ended up playing 17:59 TOI in Sunday’s game in Buffalo. It seems like he may have played through the fractured foot and it was discovered this week. Bergeron will miss at least two weeks and will be re-evaluated after that. Riley Nash will take his place on the top line tonight and David Backes will take his spot on the top power-play.

Bergeron (lower-body) will be a game-time decision on Sunday.

Bergeron was seen wearing a walking book on his right leg following Saturday’s loss to the Maple Leafs. A walking boot can often indicate a lengthy injury absence, but the fact that he is considered a game-time decision suggests that he may not be out as long as originally feared.
