Carolina Hurricanes News

Andersen will start Wednesday vs. the Panthers.

Andersen allowed two goals on 42 shots in the Ducks win over the Predators on Sunday. Andersen FINALLY recorded his first win of the season and his owners are hoping this will open the flood gates. Andersen currently ranks eighth in the NHL in SV% (.935) and 10th in GAA (2.05). He will face a Panthers team who has five of their last seven while averaging 2.57 goals per game.

Andersen leads the Ducks onto the ice for warmups.

Andersen made 32 saves on 34 shots in the Ducks loss in St. Louis on Thursday. It was another strong performance from Andersen, who is still winless in eight starts this season. He enters play on Sunday with a 2.05 GAA and .932 SV%…not exactly the numbers you would expect from a guy who is 0-5-2.

Andersen will start in goal Thursday vs. the Blues.

Andersen allowed four goals on 34 shots in the Ducks 4-3 loss to the Stars on Thursday. The Ducks finally scored in front of Andersen, but it still wasn’t enough to earn his first win of the season. Andersen enters play on Thursday with a 0-4-2 record, 2.05 GAA and .931 SV%. He will face a Blues team that is tied for 11th in scoring—2.78 goals per game.

Andersen will start again on Tuesday.

Andersen stopped 23 of 24 shots in the Ducks 1-0 OT loss to the Blackhawks last night. It was another great performance from Andersen, but the Ducks have only scored a single goal in front of him this season. He will need them to score some goals tonight when he faces a Stars team who ranks sixth in the NHL in scoring (3.38 G/PG).

Andersen will start Monday in Chicago.

Andersen gave up three goals on 30 shots in the Ducks loss in Minnesota on Saturday. Despite posting a 1.86 GAA and .938 SV% in five starts, Andersen is still searching for his first win of the season. It won’t be easy to get into the win column tonight as Andersen gets set to face the Blackhawks on the road.

Andersen will start Saturday in Minnesota.

Andersen allowed two goals on 24 shots in the Ducks loss to the Avalanche last Friday. Anton Khudobin started the last two games but the Ducks will turn to Andersen tonight in Minnesota. Andersen has been great, posting a 1.56 GAA and .947 SV% in four starts, but the Ducks lack of offence has him searching for his first win of the season.

The Maple Leafs have placed Jake Gardiner (undisclosed) on injured reserve.

Gardiner missed Wednesday’s game in Buffalo and will miss Saturday’s in Montreal because of an undisclosed injury. Moving him to IR allows the Maple Leafs to recall someone without having to send anyone down. He is considered day-to-day until the Leafs release the nature and severity of his injury.

The Blues have placed Paul Stastny on IR with a broken right foot; will be evaluated in five weeks.

Stastny has missed the last two games with what was previously called a “lower-body injury.” We now know that the injury is a broken right foot that will keep him out for at least five weeks. After five weeks he will be evaluated and another timetable will be released.

Paul Stastny
Stepan (dental work) did not practice on Wednesday but is expected to play on Thursday.

Stepan missed Wednesday’s practice because he had his wisdom teeth removed, but he is expected to be in the lineup on Thursday vs. the Coyotes. Stephan has three gaols, one assist and 20 shots on goal in seven contests this season. Monitor his status during Thursday’s morning skate to be sure he plays.

Andersen is expected to get the start in goal vs. Minnesota.

Andersen allowed two goals on 24 shots in the Ducks shutout loss to the Avalanche on Friday. Andersen has no wins in four games despite posting a 1.56 GAA and .947 SV% in three starts and one relief appearance. The Ducks offence has been anemic and it is not helping Andersen at all.

Frederik Andersen
Andersen will be back in goal on Friday vs. the Avalanche.

Andersen stopped 20 of 21 shots that he faced after replacing Anton Khudobin in Wednesday’s loss. The Ducks have not been able to score so far this season, but Andersen has been steady in goal. Through three contests, Andersen owns a 1.40 GAA and .956 SV%. Tonight he takes on a Colorado team who is the opposite—they can score but can’t keep the puck out of their net.
