Florida Panthers News
Bennett recently requested a trade and being healthy scratched tonight is likely related to a deal being completed in the near future. With Bennett coming out of the lineup, Dominik Simon will draw back in.
Bobrovsky allowed two goals on 27 shots in the Panthers' win in Detroit last Saturday. After sitting on Sunday, Bobrovsky will draw back into the crease Thursday vs. the Predators. He has won each of his first three starts of the season, allowing nine goals on 85 shots (.894 SV%). Tonight he'll face a Predators team that has lost five of their last seven games.
Boqvist will replace Nick Merkely, who was sent the other way. Boqvist did not record a point while playing 14:06 ATOI in his first four games of the season.
Reinhart remains day-to-day with an upper-body injury and will miss his second straight game on Sunday. With Reinhart out, Tage Thompson and Jeff Skinner took turns with Jack Eichel and Victor Olofsson.
Forsling suffered an upper-body injury in Columbus on Thursday and head coach Joel Quenneville expects him to miss at least one week. The Panthers dressed seven defensemen last game but with Forsling out, they will likely go back to 12 forwards and six defensemen. Expect Aleksi Heponiemi to make his NHL debut in his place.
Bobrovsky allowed three goals on 22 shots sin the Panthers' win in Columbus on Tuesday. Despite giving up a combined seven goals on 58 shots (.879 SV%), Bobrovsky has opened the season at 2-0-0 and draws an outstanding matchup tonight in Detroit. The Red Wings are without a number of key players and have lost four consecutive games while scoring just 1.75 goals per game.
Reinhart was missing from Friday's practice after suffering an upper-body injury on Thursday. With Reinhart out, Tage Thompson skated on the top line yesterday, so look for that to be the case vs. the Devils. Reinhart is listed as day-to-day.
Reinhart missed Friday's practice and head coach Ralph Krueger said that they will make the call on his status on Saturday morning. If Reinhart doesn't play, it seems likely that Tage Thompson will suit up on the first line with Jack Eichel and Victor Olofsson.
Driedger stopped 28 of 30 shots in the Panthers' win over the Blackhawks on January 17th. With COVID-19 related postponements and Sergei Bobrovsky's return, Driedger has only made one start so far this season. On Thursday he'll take on a Blue Jackets team that is 2-2-3 through seven games while averaging the seventh-fewest goals per game (2.57).
Getting added to the COVID-19 reserve list means that Boqvist likely will not be available for the Tuesday/Wednesday back-to-back in Nashville. Boqvist's roommate Alex DeBrincat was also added to the list, so Chicago could be without two of their best offensive weapons in a tough series with the Predators.
Rodrigues left Sunday's game vs. the Rangers with a lower-body injury that he suffered in a collision with Filip Chytil. The play left both players injured and it is going to keep Rodrigues out "longer term." With Rodrigues hurt, Drew O'Connor will likely make his NHL debut on Tuesday.
Bobrovsky allowed four goals on 36 shots in the Panthers' 5-4 overtime win over the Blackhawks last Tuesday. With COVID-19 postponements interfering with the Panthers schedule, Bobrovsky will make his second start of the year one full week after his first. Tuesday's game will mark his third return to Columbus--he was 1-1-1 with a 2.00 GAA and .944 SV% in three games against his former team in 2020.
Nick Merkley is coming up to make his season debut on Sunday so they send Boqvist to the taxi squad because he doesn't need waivers. Boqvist has yet to register a point with just two shots on goal in four games this season.
Forsling played 21:15 TOI in his season debut on Sunday but the Panthers want to get a couple of new bodies in the lineup for the second game of the season, so Riley Stillman will replace him on Tuesday.
