Kuemper will start on Friday vs. Carolina.

Kuemper left practice early on Wednesday due to an undisclosed injury but appears good to go as he is scheduled to start on Friday vs. Carolina. The 33-year-old Stanley Cup-winning veteran has struggled in his second season in Washington, with his ugly 13-13-3 record, 3.32 GAA and .888 SV%. He'll be looking to snap Washington's four-game losing streak as he heads to Carolina on Friday, who has won eight of their last 10 games and are eighth in the NHL in goals per game (3.34).

Rittich will start in San Jose on Thursday.

After a 5-2 win over the Seattle Kraken last night, the Kings will switch to Rittich between the pipes on the tail-end of a back-to-back on Thursday. Rittich has been inconsistent in his last four games, alternating between allowing four goals and recording a shutout in each contest. The Kings enter action on Thursday as significant -290 road favourites against the San Jose Sharks.

Jeannot (upper-body) will not play against the Canadiens on Thursday and is listed as day-to-day.

Jeannot was a surprise absence from Thursday's game in Montreal, with the team only announcing his absence at the start of warmups. Jeannot did not return to Wednesday's game against the Maple Leafs after his fight with Ryan Reaves in the third period, which is seemingly when the injury occurred.

Studnicka is expected to return to San Jose's lineup on Thursday vs. Los Angeles.

Ryan Carpenter will be a healthy scratch on Thursday, allowing Studnicka to draw back into the lineup. Studnicka has spent most of the 2023-24 campaign in the AHL, scoring 21 points (7G / 14A) in 36 games split between the Abbotsford Canucks and the San Jose Barracuda.

Kuemper (undisclosed) left Wednesday's practice due to injury but was a full participant Thursday and expected to back up vs. Pittsburgh.

Kuemper has only started one of the last 10 games for the Capitals but with an impending back-to-back against the Pittsburgh Penguins and Carolina Hurricanes, he will likely see some action if he can suit up. The 33-year-old Kuemper has had a forgettable season, posting an ugly 3.32 GAA and .888 SV% in 33 games (13-13-3).
