Darcy Kuemper will start Thursday vs. Tampa Bay.

Kuemper stopped 28 of 29 shots (.966 SV%) but still took the loss as he was beaten in overtime by the New York Islanders in his previous start Wednesday. The 32-year-old has been solid in his first season in Washington but received little help from the team in front of him, with his 21-23-6 record, 2.72 GAA and .912 SV%. He will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning, who snapped a four-game losing streak with a 4-0 win over Carolina in their last game.

Kuemper allowed four goals on 40 shots (.900 SV%) for his third loss in four starts as he was defeated by the Pittsburgh Penguins in his previous start. The 32-year-old has been solid all season but received little help around him, leading to a 21-23-5 record, 2.76 GAA and .911 SV%. He takes on the New York Islanders, who have won four of their last six but are 21st in the NHL in goals per game (2.99).

Jordan Spence has been loaned to the Ontario Reign (AHL).

Spence had an assist, six SOG, and a +3 plus/minus through five games with the Kings but has been loaned back to the Ontario Reign (AHL) on Tuesday. The 22-year-old returns to the Reign, where he had four goals, 37 assists, 30 PIMs and a -14 plus/minus through 50 games so far this season.

The Kings signed Cole Krygier to a two-year entry-level contract.

Krygier was originally a seventh-round pick of the Panthers, but they traded his rights to the Kings for future considerations on March 20th. The 22-year-old defenseman had 10 goals and six assists (16 points) in 38 games at Michigan State University this season. He's expected to remain with the Ontario Reign in the AHL.

Kemper has missed the Capitals' previous two games due to an upper-body injury but will draw back in the crease Thursday vs. Chicago. The 32-year-old has been solid but gotten little help in his first season in Washington, with his 20-22-5 record, 2.77 GAA and .911 SV%. He takes on the Chicago Blackhawks, who have lost five of their last seven games and are 32nd in the NHL in goals per game (2.47).

Kuemper missed the Capitals' previous game due to an upper-body injury and will remain out Tuesday after practising with the team. The 32-year-old has been one of few bright spots in Washington this season, with his 20-22-5 record, 2.77 GAA and .911 SV%.
