Hamilton (lower-body) is questionable for Saturday’s game in Winnipeg.

Hamilton and Michael Stone are battling injuries on the Flames’ blueline and had coach Glen Gulutzan said he hopes one of them “will play tomorrow” and the other “will play soon.” There is no word which one is closer, but expect an update after the team’s morning skate on Saturday.

Hamilton left Thursday’s game with a lower-body injury and did not return.

There is no word on what is ailing the young defenseman but assistant coach Martin Gelinas said that Hamilton should be back “sooner rather than later” during a postgame interview. The Flames are red-hot and losing Hamilton for any period of time would be a big blow to their blueline.

Bernier will start Friday vs. the Maple Leafs.

Bernier allowed three goals on 32 shots in the Ducks’ loss in Los Angeles last Saturday. John Gibson still isn’t ready to go following their bye week, so Bernier will make his fourth straight start tonight vs. his former team. He has allowed three goals in each of his previous three starts while posting an ugly .866 SV%.

The Flames have acquired Curtis Lazar and Mike Kostka from the Senators for Jyrki Jokipakka and a 2nd Round Pick.

Lazar has had a very difficult year that started with mono at the beginning of the season and never seemed to get it back on track. Lazar had three goals and one assist in 13 games with Binghamton (AHL) and one one assist in 33 games with the Senators. Following a few additions up front, Lazar would have been sitting or sent back down, so he gets a much-needed change of scenery as the Salmon Arm, British Columbia native heads to Alberta.

Curtis Lazar
Allen will start Tuesday vs. the Oilers.

Allen allowed three goals on 41 shots in the Blues’ loss in Chicago on Sunday. Allen is on a three-game losing streak while posting a 2.71 GAA and .922 SV%. He will face the Oilers for the first time since October—he stopped 20 of 22 shots in a 3-1 loss in Edmonton in their first meeting.

Markstrom (lower-body) did not practice on Monday; won't be available on Tuesday.

Markstrom was reportedly injured during the Canucks’ skills competition, which adds insult to injury. With Ryan Miller’s future with the Canucks uncertain, Vancouver’s goaltending situation is cloudy at the moment. Richard Bachman has been called up and should serve as Miller’s backup on Tuesday, unless Miller is dealt.
