New Jersey Devils News

Allen is in the starter's crease at the Devils' morning skate.

Despite Kaapo Kahkonen recording a shutout in a 4-0 win over the New York Islanders on Sunday, the Devils will likely return to Allen in the crease on Tuesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Allen has been solid since joining the Devils but had his first misstep in his last outing, allowing five goals on 25 shots (.800 SV%) in a 5-2 loss to the Ottawa Senators. The Devils enter action as +127 road underdogs against the Maple Leafs.

Cotter will be a healthy scratch on Thursday vs. Seattle.

Cotter has been held without a point in five straight contests and will head to the press box Thursday vs. Seattle as he is replaced by Pavel Dorofeyev (undisclosed). The 24-year-old Cotter is in his third NHL season and has already passed career highs in games played (65), points (22) and PIMs (39) in 2023-24.

Markstrom (lower body) has been cleared for full practice and game participation.

Markstrom has missed the last five games due to a lower-body injury but could return to the crease as soon as Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks. Dustin Wolf will likely serve as Markstrom's backup for the duration of the season as Dan Vladar is set to undergo season-ending hip surgery.

Allen will start on Thursday vs. Winnipeg.

The Devils will return to Allen in the crease for the third straight game on Thursday when they face off against the Winnipeg Jets. Allen has been excellent since being acquired in a pre-deadline trade, allowing only six total goals in three games (2-1-0), and posting a tremendous .946 SV%. That said, the Devils enter action as +109 home underdogs against a Jets club that has outscored their opposition 16-3 during a three-game winning streak.
