Lazar missed the first four games of the season with an upper-body injury but will play Wednesday in Florida. Lazar, who had four points (2G / 2A) in 17 games with the Bruins last year, will skate on the fourth line.
The Canucks said Dowling's absence from Monday's practice was "maintenance" related but he landed on IR on Tuesday. Justin Bailey was recalled from the AHL to take Dowling's spot on the roster.
Bernier will miss tonight's game vs. the Capitals, leaving Scott Wedgewood to start and Nico Daws to serve as his backup after being called up from Utica (AHL).
Daws started his 2021-22 season by stopping 25 of 27 shots in a win in his AHL debut. The 2020 third-round selection spent last season in Germany, where he was 4-6-0 with a 2.90 GAA and .897 SV%. There's no indication why Daws was called up because now the Devils have three goalies on the active roster.
Hughes dislocated his left shoulder on Tuesday night but an MRI revealed no further damage, and he does not require surgery at this time. According to the Devils, he has begun physical therapy and will be re-evaluated next week. Hughes was also moved to injured reserve.
Hardman suffered a head laceration in Tuesday's loss to the Islanders and will not play Thursday vs. the Canucks. Head coach Jeremy Colliton said he has not decided who will replace him in the lineup.
Hughes fell awkwardly after absorbing a hit in Tuesday's win over the Kraken. Head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters post-game that Hughes is day-to-day for now but will be evaluated further on Wednesday. The Devils are back in action on Thursday, so there's a good chance he misses the game vs. the Capitals.
