Quick confirmed to start Thursday vs. the Wild.

Quick went 16-22-4 with a 2.79 GAA and .904 SV% in 42 starts in 2020. It was a much improved effort from his .888 SV% in the previous campaign but given the talent-level in Los Angeles, it seems unlikely he'll ever return to being a reliable fantasy option. If you play the matchups right, he can be serviceable and tonight looks like one of those matchups.

Zibanejad (COVID-19) will play in the Rangers season opener vs. the Islanders

Zibanejad missed the first few weeks of training camp after testing positive for COVID-19 but was on the ice for Thursday's morning skate and will play vs. the Islanders. Head coach David Quinn said he expects to see "full Mika tonight" so it doesn't sound like Zibanejad is dealing with any limitations. He is coming off of a career year and will look to maintain the blistering pace he set a year ago.

Shesterkin will start the Rangers season opener vs. the Islanders.

Shesterkin started the 2020 season in the AHL before making his highly anticipated NHL debut on January 7th. Just over one year later, Shesterkin has gone 10-3-0 in 13 career starts and will be relied upon as the Rangers No.1 netminder this season. Shesterkin went 6-2-0 with a 2.75 GAA and .925 SV% in eight starts at Madison Square Garden last year.

The Rangers signed Jonny Brodzinski to a one-year, two-way contract ($700K/$200K).

Brodzinski had a strong AHL season in 2020, finishing fifth on the San Jose Barracuda with 30 points (14G / 16A) in 44 games. The former fifth-round pick has had a tough time cracking the NHL and that won't change after signing with a deep Rangers team.

The Wild have acquired Nick Bonino, a 2020 second-round pick (No.37 overall) and a 2020 third-round pick (No.70 overall) from the Predators for Luke Kunin and a 2020 fourth-round pick (No.101 overall).

Bonino has one-year left at $4.1M AAV and address a major need at centre for the 2020-21 campaign. Bonino is a solid player but his his offensive output is capped. In three years with Nashville, Bonino averaged 18 goals and 18 assists (36 points) per 82 games. He'll likely centre the third line in Minnesota.

Shesterkin (undisclosed) will start Game 3 vs. the Hurricanes.

Shesterkin was surprisingly "unfit to play" in Games 1 and 2 but will make his playoffs debut in an elimination game on Tuesday. Shesterkin was lights out after being recalled from the AHL in January. The rookie went 10-2-0 with a 2.52 GAA and .932 SV% in 12 starts and will need to bring that game tonight if the Rangers are going to keep their season alive.

The Ducks have signed Sam Carrick to a one-year contract extension worth $700K.

After spending the first seven years of his career in the Maple Leafs organization, Carrick has been with the Ducks since 2016-17. In that time, he has appeared in just 15 NHL games, amassing one goal and two assists. However, he has been prolific at the AHL-level, leading the team in points (61) last year and was leading San Diego in goals (23) and points (43) in 46 games before this year was paused.

The Rangers signed Patrick Khodorenko to an entry-level contract.

Khodorenko was an undrafted free agent and finished his senior season at Michigan State University, where he led the team in goals (16) and points (33) in 36 games. Khodorenko's contract begins in 2020-21, and he will join the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL) immediately on an Amateur Try-Out.
