The Maple Leafs have acquired Ben Harpur, Cody Ceci, Aaron Luchuk and a 2020 third-round pick from the Senators for Nikita Zaitsev, Connor Brown and Michael Carcone.

Harpur is a huge defenseman (6-foot-6, 222 lbs) who plays a physical brand of hockey. Harpur averaged 1.7 hits and 1.4 blocked shots per game in 2018-19 but contributes very little offensively—1G, 4A in 51 games. Harpur could potentially be a third-pairing defenseman for Toronto in 2020 but they have a number of young defensemen in the pipelines who will be looking to push Harpur out.

The Ducks have signed Sam Carrick to a one-year contract extension.

Carrick spent most of the 2018-19 season with San Diego (AHL), where he led the team in goals (32) and points (61) in 61 games. The 27-year-old played in six games with the Ducks, picking up just one assist—giving him three points (1G / 2A) in 25 career NHL games.

The Rangers have acquired Jacob Trouba from the Jets for Neal Pionk and the No.20 overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft.

Trouba is a restricted free agent on July 1st but gives the Rangers a bonafide first-pairing defenseman, something they played the entire 2018-19 season without. After missing a combined 49 games in 2017 and 2018, Trouba appeared in all 82 games last year and set a new career-high with 50 points (8G / 42A). Trouba will log massive minutes for the Rangers next season and helps accelerate their rebuild, which was also aided by landing the No.2 overall pick in this year’s draft.

The Penguins signed Chad Ruhwedel to a two-year, $1.4 million extension ($700K AAV).

Ruhwedel split his 2019 campaign between the NHL and AHL. Ruhwedel had one goal and one assist in 18 games with the Penguins and five points (1G / 4A) in five AHL games. Ruhwedel figures to serve as the Penguins No.7 defenseman in 2019-20.

The Rangers acquired Adam Fox from the Hurricanes for a 2019 second-round pick and a conditional third-round pick.

The Hurricanes could end up receiving two second-round picks if Fox plays 30 NHL games for the Rangers next season. Fox was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, scoring nine gaols and 39 assists (48 points) in 33 games as a Junior at Harvard University. The Hurricanes were unable to sign Fox, who had made it known he wanted to play for the Rangers.
