Malkin (upper-body) will travel to Buffalo for Friday’s game.
Malkin has missed the last four games with an upper-body injury, but the Penguins called him day-to-day this afternoon and announced that he will travel with the team to Buffalo. There’s no word whether or not Malkin will actually return to the lineup, but this is positive news that the centre is close to playing.
Rakell (upper-body) did not travel to Chicago; will miss the start of the Ducks five-game road trip.

Jarry will start Saturday vs. the Lightning.
Jarry allowed four goals on 28 shots in the Penguins loss in Nashville on November 11th. With Matt Murray going last night, Jarry is given the unenviable task of facing the highest scoring team in hockey tonight. In his first two starts of the season, Jarry allowed six goals on 62 shots (.903 SV%).

The Bruins have recalled Matt Grzelcyk from Providence (AHL).
Grzelcyk, 23, has recorded four assists in 14 games with Providence so far this season. Grzelcyk has been recalled because Torey Krug is banged up and comes up to the Bruins with no points in three career NHL games.

Acciari has been sidelined since the season opener, but will return to the lineup tonight in Toronto. Acciari has six points (2G / 4A) in 49 career NHL games.
Nieto (illness) will be a game-time decision on Saturday.
Nieto is a question mark for the Avalanche on Saturday because of an illness. The Avalanche are already scheduled to go with 11 forwards and seven defensemen, so it’s unclear who would take Nieto’s spot if he were to be unavailable.

The Penguins recalled Tristan Jarry from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL).
Casey DeSmith was originally brought up to serve as Matt Murray’s backup, but Jarry took that spot on Monday. The 22-year-old, former second-round pick has gone 3-2-0 with a 3.18 GAA and .897 SV% in five AHL starts this season. It has been a disappointing start for Jarry, who was 28-15-1 with a 2.15 GAA and .925 SV% with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last year. He could start one of the Penguins’ back-to-back games on Wednesday/Thursday.
Heinen is expected to draw into the lineup on Thursday.
The Kings have placed Jeff Carter (ankle) on injured reserve.
Carter will undergo surgery on Thursday to repair a damaged ankle tendon; expected to be out at least six weeks.
Carter will undergo a surgical procedure on his left leg; Kings announce he is out indefinitely.
Carter is expected to miss multiple weeks with a lower-body injury.
Carter was reportedly cut by a skate blade in the Kings’ win over the Canadiens on Wednesday and is expected to miss a couple of weeks. It’s still too early for an exact timetable, so expect the Kings to update his status in the next 24 hours. This is a huge loss for the Kings, but should afford Adrian Kempe extra playing time, especially after a four-point performance last night.

The Bruins have assigned Danton Heinen to Providence (AHL).
Heinen had a nice run with the Bruins, registering three assists in three games during his call-up. With Patrice Bergeron and David Backes expected to play on Thursday, the Bruins needed to clear some roster spots. Heinen had one assist in one game with Providence before his call-up and he will likely be one of the first forwards brought back from the AHL.
