Injury

Kempny is expected to miss 6-to-8 months after undergoing surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon.

Kempny had surgery for a torn hamstring in 2019 and struggled through most of 2020 and will now most, if not all of 2021 after suffering a torn Achilles’ tendon while training in the Czech Republic. After finding out about Kempny's injury, the Capitals re-signed Brendan Dillon to a four-year extension. Dillon filled in for Kempny next to John Carlson on the top-pair last year.

Olofsson spent most of the 2019-20 season in the AHL, where he racked up 16 points (1G / 15A) in 57 games with Laval. He failed to record a point in three games with Montreal. The 25-year-old blueliner has 11 assists in 59 career NHL games with the Wild and Canadiens.

The Sabres signed Brandon Biro to a two-year entry-level contract on March 18th.

Biro was an undrafted free agent who just finished up his senior year at Penn State University, where he had 25 points (10G / 15A) in 25 games. Biro will likely join Rochester (AHL) when the NHL and AHL return to play, whether it be for the 2020 or 2021 season.
