Toronto Maple Leafs News

Stolarz is in the starter's crease at Toronto's morning skate.

Stolarz suffered an upper-body injury during warmups before Saturday's game and did not play, but has been cleared to play in their upcoming game on Tuesday against the Boston Bruins. The 32-year-old Stolarz has had a disappointing season, a recurring theme for the entire Maple Leafs team, but has played better lately. Since returning from the Olympic break, Stolarz has a solid 2.75 GAA and .921 SV% in six appearances (1-2-2). The Maple Leafs enter Tuesday's contest as +165 road underdogs against a Bruins team with points in five straight games (3-0-2).

With Anthony Stolarz (upper body) suffering an injury during Saturday's pregame skate, the Maple Leafs have recalled Hildeby from the Marlies (AHL). The 24-year-old Hildeby was solid in a stint with the Maple Leafs earlier this season, posting a 2.84 GAA and .912 SV% in 19 appearances (5-6-4).

Woll will start against the Hurricanes on Friday.

Woll's workload continues to ramp up as the Maple Leafs will turn to him between the pipes for the fifth time in their last six games. Woll was unfortunate to be tagged with the loss in his last outing, allowing just three goals on 34 shots in a 3-1 loss to the Islanders on Tuesday. The 27-year-old netminder carries a 14-12-5 record and a .905 SV% into Friday night's game against the Hurricanes, where the Leafs are unsurprisingly the underdogs at +185 on the money line.

Matthews underwent successful MCL knee repair surgery and is expected to recover in approximately 12 weeks.

Matthews was involved in a knee-on-knee collision with Ducks captain Radko Gudas last week and was almost immediately ruled out for the remainder of the season. Gudas was issued a five-minute major for kneeing and a game misconduct penalty on the play, and is now serving a five-game suspension. Matthews' injury caps what has been a nightmare season for the Maple Leafs. His season comes to an abrupt end after 60 games, with career lows of 27 goals and 26 assists.

Woll will start against the Islanders on Tuesday.

Woll had the night off in Toronto's previous game after starting three straight, but he will return to the crease on Tuesday against the New York Islanders. Despite losing two of his last three (1-1-1), Woll has been excellent lately, posting a 2.63 GAA and .924 SV%, a vast improvement over the ugly 5.13 GAA and .849 SV% he had in his first three games back from the Olympic break (0-3-0). The Maple Leafs enter Tuesday's contest as +123 home underdogs against an Islanders team that has lost three of its last six games (3-3-0).
