Fucale had a sparkling NHL debut in Detroit on Thursday, stopping all 21 shots that he faced in a shutout victory. Returning him to the AHL suggests that Vitek Vanecek will be available to at least backup on Sunday. Fucale is 3-0-2 with a 1.73 GAA and .933 SV% in five AHL games this season.
Borgstrom will miss Tuesday's game vs. the Penguins due to a non-COVID-related illness. Reese Johnson was recalled from the AHL on Monday and will draw in to replace Borgstrom.
Protas was selected No.91 overall in 2019 and Monday would be his NHL debut if he gets into the lineup in Tampa. The 6-foot-6, 210 lbs. forward has scored three goals with eight assists (11 points) in 22 career AHL games.
Dowd has missed two of the last three games with a lower-body injury that will also keep him out off the lineup on Monday. Moving him to IR frees up a roster spot so the Capitals could bring an extra forward to Tampa. They recalled Aliaksei Protas from Hershey (AHL).

Oshie is expected to miss multiple weeks with a lower-body injury that he suffered vs. the Red Wings on Wednesday. Moving him to IR opens up a roster spot for the Capitals to recall Brett Leason from Hershey (AHL).
Borgstrom is now the fifth player and eighth member of the Blackhawks' organization to land in COVID-19 protocol. Borgstrom can test out of protocol before Wednesday's game, but consider him questionable vs. the Maple Leafs.
Nic Dowd is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, so Lapierre will draw back into the bottom-6 on Monday. Lapierre scored a goal in his NHL debut and has picked up two shots and two PIMS in two career games.
