Oshie left Thursday's game with an apparent head injury and did not return.

Oshie was elbowed in the head by Wild tough-guy Mike Rupp. Oshie went down and took awhile to get to his feet. Rupp was assessed a match-penalty and will have a phone hearing Friday. The Blues are already without David Backes, so losing Oshie right before the playoffs would put a huge dent in their lineup. Consider him day-to-day until we get a more detailed report of his injury.

Backstrom (upper-body) said he will "absolutely" play Saturday vs. Boston.

After being injured on Tuesday in a big collision with Drew Doughty, Backstrom will miss no time and play on Saturday. Backstrom has two goals and 12 assists (14 points) in his last 14 games. His 57 assists ranks third in the NHL and his 70 points is good for 12th.

Backstrom (upper-body) participated in practice Thursday.

After leaving Tuesday's game with an upper-body injury, Backstrom did not practice on Wednesday, but has rejoined his teammates this morning. The Capitals are back in action on Saturday, so barring a setback it looks like Backstrom should be good-to-go. Monitor his status as Saturday's clash with the Bruins approaches.

Backstrom left Tuesday's game with an upper-body injury and did not return.

Backstrom was upended by Kings defenseman Drew Doughty in the second period. He headed down the tunnel after the hit and did not return. Coach Adam Oates said Backstrom was not undergoing concussion protocol testing and reiterated that the 26-year-old suffered an upper-body injury. A serious injury to Backstrom would devastate the Capitals who continue to push for the playoffs.

Eller will be back in the Habs lineup Thursday.

Eller served as a healthy scratch on Wednesday, but will get back into the lineup on Thursday vs. the Coyotes. Eller has struggled mightily as of late after a hot start to the season. In Eller's last 21 games he has recorded just one assist, his last goal was on December 31.

Ovechkin (lower-body) is on the ice for the Capitals optional morning skate.

This is the first time that Ovechkin has skated since getting injured. The injury is believed to be minor so his participation in practice this morning is a positive sign that he will be back in tonight. We will get official word when it is made available.

Oshie (knee) appears to be playing tonight in Calgary.

Oshie is on the ice for the Blues' morning skate and is skating on his regular line, which suggests he will play tonight. Oshie's status was in question after a collision with Taylor Hall on Tuesday was causing some discomfort in his knee. Oshie has 37 points (8G / 29A) in 42 games this season.
