The Red Wings are in a prime position to capitalize on teams who are in Expansion Draft binds

This could be a huge off-season for Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings.
The team boasts a lot of cap room and draft picks and could leverage that into capitalizing on teams in a tight situation with the upcoming Expansion Draft.
Over at Detroit Hockey Now, Kevin Allen talked about how Yzerman could take advantage of teams like the St. Louis Blues, Minnesota Wild, Carolina Hurricanes, and Pittsburgh Penguins. These are all teams who will be forced to leave a quality player or two exposed to the Seattle Kraken.
We’ve already seen one instance of this kind of situation and the off-season isn’t even rolling yet. The Nashville Predators sent @Viktor Arvidsson to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for a pair of draft picks because general manager David Poile knew he wouldn’t be able to fit the player into the team’s protection scheme.
A few names who stand out as players that teams might want to trade ahead of the Expansion Draft are St. Louis’ @Vince Dunn and Minnesota’s @Matt Dumba. Both players are likely to be left exposed and Yzerman could look to acquire them on the cheap, as L.A. did with Arvidsson.
