Zaitsev has been a healthy scratch for the Blackhawks' first three games of the season but will make his season debut Monday vs. Toronto. The 31-year-old is entering his eighth NHL season and second with Chicago after being traded from Ottawa midway through the 2022-23 season. Nikita Zaitsev
Arvid Soderblom will start Monday vs. Toronto.

Soderblom lost his only start of the season in a tough 3-1 defeat to Boston after stopping 30 of 32 shots against (.938 SV%) and will take over the pipes Monday vs. Toronto. The 24-year-old has struggled through three NHL seasons as he has only two wins and holds a .891 SV% across 16 career starts. He takes on the Toronto Maple Leafs on the road, who won their last game 7-4 over Minnesota and are tied for first in the NHL in goals per game (6.0).

Arvid Soderblom
Joel Edmundson (hand) has been placed on the long-term injured reserve.

Edmundson had hand surgery during the offseason and was expected to miss the first four-to-six weeks of the regular season which has led to him being placed on the LTIR Monday. Washington acquired the defenseman from the Montreal for a third-round pick (originally acquired from Minnesota) and a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft with Montreal retaining 50 percent of Edmundson's contract in the offseason. He is entering his ninth NHL season.

Joel Edmundson
Clay Stevenson has been recalled from Hershey (AHL) and will backup Monday vs. Calgary.

Stevenson has been called up for the second time this season and will backup Darcy Kuemper Monday as the Capitals take on the Flames. The 24-year-old goaltender has appeared in two games this season for the Hershey Bears (AHL), with a 1-1-0 record, .900 SV% and a 2.01 GAA. He is replacing Charlie Lindgren, who left practice early Monday with an undisclosed injury.

Clay Stevenson
Charlie Lindgren (undisclosed) was injured at morning skate and is out vs. Calgary.

Lindgren left Washington's morning skate early Monday and will miss their matchup vs. Calgary due to an undisclosed injury. The 29-year-old started Washington's only game this season; picking up a loss after allowing four goals on 35 shots (.886 SV%) vs. Pittsburgh.Clay Stevenson has been called up to replace him as Darcy Kuemper's backup.

Charlie Lindgren
Mackenzie Blackwood will start Tuesday vs. Carolina.

Blackwood will get his second consecutive start for the Sharks after coming up short in a heroic 51-save, 2-1 shootout loss to the Colorado Avalanche. Blackwood is coming off a frustrating, injury-riddled campaign with the New Jersey Devils in which he posted a 3.20 GAA and .893 SV% in 22 games (10-6-2). It is unlikely that Blackwood will replicate his first-game performance but if he can consistently put forth valiant efforts, he will likely be in line to become the go-to guy in between the pipes for the Sharks. That said, things won't get any easier for Blackwood and the Sharks Tuesday night as they are +269 home underdogs against a Carolina Hurricanes team that has scored 13 goals in their first three games of the season (2-1-0).

Mackenzie Blackwood
Henry Thrun will draw back into the Sharks' lineup Tuesday vs. Carolina.

Thrun was a healthy scratch for the Sharks' previous game vs. Colorado but will draw back into San Jose's lineup as they take on Carolina Tuesday. The 22-year-old had an assist, one SOG, and a -1 plus/minus across 19:29 TOI in his only game played this season. He will replace Marc-Edouard Vlasic in the Sharks' lineup Tuesday.

Henry Thrun
Marc-Edouard Vlasic (undisclosed) will miss Tuesday's game vs. Carolina.

Vlasic missed the Sharks' morning practice Monday after leaving their previous game vs. Colorado after just five shifts and 3:15 TOI and is expected to be out Tuesday as San Jose takes on Carolina due to an undisclosed injury. The 36-year-old veteran is in his 18th NHL season and has played in 70+ games in every full NHL season since 2015-16.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic
Brandon Tanev (lower body) is expected to miss four-to-six weeks.

Tanev is expected to miss four-to-six weeks after suffering a lower-body injury in the Kraken's season opener against the Vegas Golden Knights. Tanev is coming off a season where he played a full 82-game slate after only playing 62 games combined in his two seasons prior. Tye Kartye replaced Tanev in their most recent game and will likely remain in the lineup until he is fit to return.

Brandon Tanev
Carson Soucy (undisclosed) will be a game-time decision Tuesday vs. Philadelphia.

Soucy signed a three-year, $9.75 million contract ($3,250,000 AAV) with the Canucks in the offseason and has yet to make his Vancouver debut due to an undisclosed injury but will be a game-time decision Tuesday vs. Pittsburgh. The 29-year-old defensemen had three goals, 13 assists, 87 SOG, 68 PIMs and a +18 plus/minus in 78 games played with Seattle in 2022-23. He is expected to lineup on Vancouver's third pairing with Noah Juulsen.

Carson Soucy
Riley Tufte has been reassigned to the Colorado Eagles (AHL).

Tufte signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Avalanche in the offseason but has failed to appear in either of their opening season wins which has lead to him being reassigned to the Colorado Eagles (AHL) Monday. The 25-year-old returns to the AHL, where he had 19 goals, 15 assists, 90 PIMs, and a +23 plus/minus in 63 games with the Texas Stars (AHL) in 2022-23.

Riley Tufte
Justus Annunen has been assigned to the Colorado Eagles (AHL).

Annunen was the odd man out as Colorado had three goaltenders on their active roster and has been assigned to the Colorado Eagles (AHL) on Monday. The 23-year-old struggled in minimal usage with the Avalanche in 2022-23 as he was 1-1-0 with a .854 SV% and 3.58 GAA. He heads back to the Colorado Eagles, where he was much more successful last season with his 22-10-8 record, .916 SV% and 2.55 GAA.

Justus Annunen
Connor Hellebuyck will start Tuesday vs. Los Angeles.

Hellebuyck will tend the crease for the third consecutive game to open the season for the Jets. After signing a massive contract extension before the start of the season, Hellebuyck has struggled out of the starting block. In his two games so far (1-1-0), Hellebuyck has a very uncharacteristic 4.07 GAA and .852 SV%. He will look to get things back in order tonight as the Jets are -130 home favourites against a Los Angeles Kings team that is still searching for their first win of the season (0-1-1).

Connor Hellebuyck
Matt Boldy is week-to-week with an upper-body injury.

Boldy was off to a strong start in his third NHL season, scoring two points (1G / 1A) in two games, before suffering an upper-body injury on Saturday. Boldy is listed as week-to-week and will be a huge loss to Minnesota's offensive capabilities. Last season, Boldy recorded career-highs in goals and assists, scoring 63 points (31G / 32A) in 81 games. Marco Rossi could be a candidate to see increased offensive deployment to try and offset the loss from Boldy's absence.

Matt Boldy
Scott Mayfield (leg) is day-to-day and will be a game-time decision Tuesday vs. Arizona.

Mayfield was forced to leave the Islanders' opening game vs Buffalo after just 16:47 TOI after taking a shot to the leg and is considered day-to-day with high potential to miss Tuesday's matchup vs. Arizona. The 31-year-old defensemen is coming off a career season in 2022-23 which saw him collect highs in goals (6), assists (18), SOG (119), and PIMs (83) and will be hoping to be back sooner rather than later.

Scott Mayfield
Josh Brown will be a healthy scratch Monday vs. the New York Rangers.

Brown collected 13:14 TOI in the Coyotes' season opening win vs. New Jersey but will be the odd man out as he is a healthy scratch Monday for Troy Stecher. The 29-year-old defenseman is coming off a four goal, three assist, 87 PIM season across 68 games played in 2022-23 and is playing in his sixth NHL season and has eight goals and 24 points in 240 career games played.

Josh Brown
Michael Carcone will be a healthy scratch vs. the New York Rangers Monday.

Carcone only played 14 shifts and 9:10 TOI in the Coyotes' season opening win and will be a healthy scratch Monday as Arizona takes on the New York Rangers. The 27-year-old undrafted forward had two goals, an assist, 15 SOG and a +3 plus/minus in a short nine game showing in 2022-23 and will hope to find his way back into the lineup soon. He is being replaced by Travis Boyd on the Coyotes' fourth line.
