Aston-Reese has been out since January 8th but skated on the Penguins fourth-line and second power-play unit in Wednesday’s morning skate. Aston-Reese is expected to replace Dominik Simon in the lineup vs. the Oilers.

Markstrom did not play Monday vs. the Sharks due to a lower-body injury and that led to 19-year-old Mikey DiPietro getting lit up. The injury is obviously minor as the Canucks hope to have their No.1 goalie between the pipes tonight. They went out and acquired Marek Mazanec from the Rangers on Tuesday and he would likely start if Markstrom is unavailable.

Rinne has gone 2-4-1 with a 3.59 GAA and .889 SV% in his last seven starts but draws a solid matchup tonight with the Red Wings in town. In their first meeting (in Detroit) Rinne surrendered four goals on 39 shots in a 4-3 OT loss.

Rask has won three straight while allowing just five goals on 82 shots (.939 SV%) and now sits fourth in the NHL in GAA (2.36), seventh in SV% (.922) and tied for 15th in wins (17). Tonight he faces a Chicago team that has won seven in a row with a power-play clicking at 39.1 percent over that stretch.
