Babstock was given a match penalty for slew-footing with just seconds to go in the Fleet’s 4-2 loss to the Toronto Sceptres on March 26. After a faceoff in the Toronto zone, Babstock can be seen taking out the legs of Sceptres’ forward Jesse Compher.
This is Babstock’s second suspension of the season, as she was punished for a game for a cross-checking incident Jan. 2 against the Minnesota Frost.
In six games this season, Babstock has no points and nine penalty minutes. In 10 career PWHL games, the 32-year-old has one assists and 11 penalty minutes.
As for Ambrose, the league’s Player Safety Committee determed she “illegally used her stick” to cross-check Frost forward Denisa Krizova in the shoulders, which rode up towards her head.
Ambrose was unpenalized on the play. This is the first fine of her PWHL career.
In 25 games this season, Ambrose has 12 assists. In 49 career PWHL games, the 30-year-old defender has four goals and 26 assists for 30 points.
Last season, Ambrose was named PWHL Defender of the Year, the first player to receive the honor in the league’s history.
Going into Saturday, Babstock’s Fleet are third in the PWHL standings with a record of 8-6-4-7 and 40 points. Boston hosts the Ottawa Charge on Saturday afternoon.
As for Ambrose’s Victoire, they are the top team in the league with a record of 11-6-3-6 and 48 points. They won’t play again until Tuesday when they host the New York Sirens.
