Montour was acquired by the Panthers from the Buffalo Sabres ahead of last season’s trade deadline in exchange for a third-round pick. He played in 12 games for the Panthers, logging 20:19 per night and scoring four points.
The $3,500,000 annual cap hit on Montour’s deal with Florida will be a decrease compared to what he was paid on his last two contracts. In 2018, Montour signed a two-year deal with the Anaheim Ducks worth $3,387,500 annually. He was traded to the Sabres mid-way through the 2018-19 season and inked a one-year, $3,850,000 deal in October of 2020.
Montour was ranked No. 27 on Seravalli’s Top 75 UFAs of the 2021 off-season list on Daily Faceoff.
