Buffalo Sabres left winger Jordan Greenway is set to make his long-awaited return to the lineup after missing the past 23 games with a mid-body injury, Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff confirmed Tuesday per Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News.

Sidelined since mid-December, Greenway has been limited to 20 appearances on the season, with his most recent stretch lasting only four games following a 10-game absence through early December as a result of a mid-body ailment. Through 2024-25, Greenway has registered three goals and four assists for seven points alongside 13 penalty minutes and a minus-one rating.

Skating in his third season with the Sabres, Greenway wrapped up the 2023-24 campaign with 28 points counting 10 goals and 18 assists coming in 67 contests.

Originally chosen 50th overall by the Minnesota Wild in the 2015 NHL Draft, Greenway has totaled 421 career contests split between the Wild and Sabres in which he has tallied 55 goals and 103 assists for 158 points. With the Wild in 2021-22, the 28-year-old Canton, N.Y., native registered a career-high 32 points counting six goals and 26 assists coming in 56 games. Greenway has also notched three goals and four assists for seven points through 22 appearances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Per PuckPedia, Greenway is in the final year of a three-year pact that carries a $3-million annual average value and can become an unrestricted free agent this coming offseason. The Sabres originally acquired Greenway from the Wild in March 2023 in exchange for second- and fifth-round draft selections.

Greenway rejoins a Sabres squad that sits at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 22-27-5 showing and 12 points back of the second wildcard seed. The Sabres have not qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs since 2011. Following the conclusion of the 4 Nations Face-Off, the Sabres will return to the ice Saturday versus the New York Rangers.
