The Calgary Flames announced on Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms with forward Adam Klapka on a two-year contract extension.

The deal will keep him in Calgary through the 2026-2027 campaign, and it will pay him $2.5 million total for an average annual value of $1.25 million.

Klapka, a 24-year-old native of Praha, Czechia, skated in 31 NHL games with the Flames during the 2024-2025 campaign, tallying six goals and four assists for 10 points.

At six-foot-eight, Klapka is one of the tallest players in NHL history.

After skating an average of 6:46 in his six-game stint in 2023-2024, Klapka earned an average of 9:39 in time on ice in his first extended look in the NHL.

The right-handed winger mustered 42 shots on goal and took 29 minutes worth of penalties.

An undrafted free agent, Klapka signed a two-year entry-level deal with Calgary in May of 2022. The season prior, he posted 18 points in 44 regular season games as a member of Bílí Tygři Liberec in Czechia.

With the signing done, the Flames now have 10 forwards signed for next season along with seven defensemen and two goaltenders.

General manager Craig Conroy will have plenty of options at his disposal this summer.

The Flames are well under the salary cap ceiling with $26.9 million of flexibility according to Puckpedia, and they have two first-round picks in each of the next two drafts to either build out their prospect pool or use as trade ammunition.

Calgary was a relatively surprising contender for a playoff spot in the Western Conference powered by a phenomenal rookie season from goalie Dustin Wolf, who was revealed as the runner-up for the Calder Trophy as the league’s top rookie on Tuesday.

The Flames finished with a 41-27-14 record that would have been good enough to make the playoffs in most seasons, and they will look to return to the postseason with a revamped group in 2025-2026.
