When speaking to the media on Friday, Winnipeg Jets head coach Scott Arniel revealed that defenseman Logan Stanley will be out of the lineup until after the holiday break due to an injury.

During Wednesday night’s game against the Anaheim Ducks, Stanley blocked a shot and looked to be in some pain. He was not seen at practice on Friday.

With the absence spanning through the NHL’s holiday break, the 6-foot-7 d-man is expected to miss at least the next two games, which sees Winnipeg host the Minnesota Wild on Saturday before another marquee matchup with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday afternoon. The earliest he is expected back is Dec. 28 against the Ottawa Senators.

This isn’t the first time Stanley is going to miss time this season. The Waterloo, Ontario native missed the first four games of the 2024-25 campaign, recovering from knee surgery that was performed in late September. Then, a mid-body injury in November kept him out of the lineup for another eight games.

Stanley had spent much of the last two seasons as a healthy scratch, appearing in 25 games during the 2023-24 campaign after playing in only 19 contests the year before.

In 22 appearances thus far this season, Stanley has mustered up a goal and an assist, already surpassing his season totals from the past two years. He has a plus/minus of +5 while registering an average of 15 minutes of ice time. The 26-year-old entered this season after signing a two-year contract extension with the Jets. The deal carries an AAV of $1.25 million through the 2025-26 campaign.

The Jets (23-10-1) hold the best record in the NHL, two points ahead of the Vegas Golden Knights and New Jersey Devils. Winnipeg also leads the Wild by three points in the race for the Central Division.
