Winnipeg Jets forward Nino Niederreiter is dealing with a leg laceration and will not travel with the team to St. Paul, Minn. to take on the Minnesota Wild on Saturday, according to TSN’s John Lu.

The Jets’ forward was injured in last Monday’s 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Kings. He appeared to be hurt after a faceoff and Kings’ forward Adrian Kempe cut his leg when he went down to the ice.

Jets’ head coach Rick Bowness told reporters on Wednesday that Niederreiter would be out for “about a week,” but that they’re hoping it’s not much longer.

Niederreiter has 18 goals and 15 assists for 33 points in 75 games for the Jets this season. Now in his 11th season, the 31-year-old Swiss forward has scored 223 goals and 219 assists for 442 points in 885 games with the Jets, Nashville Predators, Carolina Hurricanes and Minnesota Wild.

The Jets are 46-24-6 with 98 points, third in the Central Division. Winnipeg became the eighth team to clinch a spot in 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs on Thursday after defeating the Calgary Flames 5-2.

The Jets have made the playoffs six times in their last seven seasons.
