San Jose Sharks captain Logan Couture will announce Tuesday that he is unable to continue his playing career due to injuries.

On Tuesday’s episode of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Tyler Yaremchuk and Frank Seravalli reminisced about Couture’s time in San Jose, highlighting his heroic performances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Tyler Yaremchuk: Couture is a guy who, over the last couple of NHL seasons, has faded away because of the injury. But when you look back at his career, it’s just unbelievable. He had 701 points in 933 games.

Frank Seravalli: Incredible career. I think when we look back at Couture and his impact in the game, what I will remember is he was one of the true competitors to ever play. You get to the postseason and that guy was a gamer. He was a clutch player who in separate postseasons, one year he led the playoffs in goals and in another year he led the playoffs in assists and points. It almost felt like when you were in San Jose for playoff runs that every night you were getting something magical from Couture. That is the mark of a true outstanding player. He had great regular seasons, he was a really consistent producer, but when he got to the postseason he turned it on. It’s just unfortunate that his body isn’t able to cooperate. He had six games played over the last two seasons. We haven’t seen him on the ice since last January. It’s not exactly shocking news, but I am just hoping that he gets the proper send-off today as the Sharks captain. He has two years left on his deal at $8 million per, and it’s just unfortunate because this is a guy who probably could have really helped a playoff team over these last couple of seasons of his contract but he just couldn’t stay on the ice.
