Kings’ Mikey Anderson day-to-day with finger injury
Los Angeles Kings defenseman Mikey Anderson remains sidelined on a day-to-day basis due to a finger injury, Kings head coach Jim Hiller confirmed to Eric Stephens of The Athletic on Tuesday.
Anderson did not play Saturday versus the Carolina Hurricanes and is expected to remain out of the lineup Wednesday when the Kings host the Montreal Canadiens.
On the season, Anderson has made 49 appearances with the Kings in which he has collected five goals and nine assists for 14 points alongside a plus-five rating and 18 penalty minutes.
Originally chosen by Los Angeles in the fourth round of the 2017 NHL Draft, Anderson has skated in part of six seasons with the Kings, totaling 317 appearances in which he has tallied 16 goals and 56 assists for 72 points. The 25-year-old Roseville, Minn., native has averaged more than 20 minutes in ice time over each of the past five seasons.
Per PuckPedia, Anderson is in the second year of an eight-year contract that carries a $4.125-million annual average value.
While Anderson remains sidelined, the Kings’ blue line has seen a boost in recent weeks with the return of two-time Stanley Cup champion Drew Doughty. Sidelined for the first 47 games of the season due to an ankle injury, Doughty returned to the lineup in late January. In the ensuing three contests, the future Hall of Famer has notched one assist and six shots while seeing more than 25 minutes in time on ice.
Entering Tuesday’s contest against the Canadiens, the Kings sit third place in the Pacific Division with a 27-17-6 record and 60 points. The Canadiens and Kings met once previously this season, a mid-October contest in Montreal that saw the Kings prevail 4-1 in which Anderson scored his first goal of the season while netminder David Rittich turned aside 26 shots en route to the victory.
