While many people are looking at some of the players left off the rosters for the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off, it is worth paying attention to some of those who could step into any holes that open up.

Team Canada’s roster is filled with recognizable and legendary names. From future Hall of Famers Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid to talented players of today like Cale Makar, Seth Jarvis and Brad Marchand. However, that has left a few notable names wanting the opportunity to represent their country.

However, a few players who were on the bubble of making the roster could still play for Canada. With two months until the tournament, there are plenty of opportunities for players to fall out of the lineup due to injury or other reasons.

On Friday’s edition of Daily Faceoff LIVE, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk look at three guys who have the ability to step into the Canadian lineup if need be.

Frank Seravalli: They include Mark Scheifele of the Winnipeg Jets, Zach Hyman from the Edmonton Oilers and on defense, I believe one of the very last players cut, Mackenzie Weegar from the Calgary Flames.

Hyman [on Thursday], big first game back, almost on hat trick watch last night. Almost doubled his season-long goal total, huge response from him being cut from the 4 Nations Face-Off team. If he continues at a clip like this, he’s certainly going to be at the very top of the list for a lot of the reasons we mentioned.

Scheifele, to me, I think he’s right on the edge of being an undeniable player for Team Canada…He started really well. Obviously, it’s well north of a point per game among the league leaders so far this season. Some view him as one-dimensional. I view him as a horse, someone that can contribute to Team Canada.

On the back end is Mackenzie Weegar. He’s a guy that really has a strong skill set in both ends of the ice. I think he defends better than he’s given credit for. He’s got good puck skills, I think better puck skills than someone like Travis Sanheim.
