A familiar name has hit the wire.

On Tuesday, in the middle of the NHL’s break for the 4 Nations Face-Off, the Minnesota Wild placed forward Devin Shore on waivers.

If Shore were to clear waivers (again) on Wednesday, he would be eligible to be assigned to the Wild’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Iowa Wild.

Since the 2024-25 season began, Shore has been placed on waivers three times, most recently last month. However, after he cleared, he ended up staying with Minnesota. The 30-year-old was also placed on waivers during training camp back in September.

Given the numerous transactions this year, Shore has seen quite a bit of action in the NHL. The Ajax, Ontario native has appeared in 34 games this year, including the Wild’s last seven games leading into the pause. He scored his first of the season in a 4-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Jan. 30. In total, Shore has posted three points thus far, registering a plus/minus of -3 while averaging 8:28 of ice time, up from his average of eight minutes in his limited time with the Seattle Kraken last season.

In his 14 games with Iowa at the start of the 2024-25 campaign, Shore had scored two goals and eight assists for 10 points, though he had a -11 rating.

Shore signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Wild back in July with an NHL cap hit of $775,000 and a minor-league salary of $400,000.

In 477 NHL appearances, which includes stops with the Dallas Stars, Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets and Edmonton Oilers, Shore has scored 52 goals and 90 assists for 142 points, having played in four Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Oilers.

The Wild (33-19-4) is third in the Central Division, 11 points back of the league-leading Winnipeg Jets for first place.
