Victoire re-signs Kati Tabin to two-year contract

Well, we finally have an official signing.
On Monday night, the Montreal Victoire announced that they had re-signed defender Kati Tabin to a two-year contract.
“I am extremely happy to remain in Montréal and to keep representing this team and city that I love so much,” Tabin said in a release. “We will continue to work hard as a group to bring a championship to this city.”
Tabin has been an important part of the Montreal squad in the team’s first two seasons of existence. In her short PWHL career, the Winnipeg native had only missed two games, which came this past April when she was suspended for a pair of games after an illegal check to the head of then-New York Sirens forward Jessie Eldridge.
Tabin’s strength in her game is her physicality and defensive awareness. Last season, the former Toronto Six rearguard delivered 26 hits, leading all Montreal blueliners and finishing second behind captain Marie-Philip Poulin. Tabin also averaged close to 20 minutes per game during the regular season.
The 28-year-old might not be the most gifted scoring threat from the blue line like compared to teammate Erin Ambrose, she found a way to set career highs with four goals and eight points during the 2024-25 season. She also posted an assist during the postseason, though it didn’t help the Victoire, as the team lost to the eventual Walter Cup runners-up, the Ottawa Charge, in four games in the semifinals.
Across her two seasons in Montreal, Tabin has appeared in 52 games, scoring five goals and nine assists for 14 points with a plus/minus of +9. In seven postseason games, she has just one assist and an even rating.
Along with her PWHL career, the former Quinnipiac Bobcat spent two years in the old Premier Hockey Federation, winning an Isobel Cup with the Six in 2023.
Tabin is one of 10 players who are under contract for next season in Montreal, joining the likes of Poulin, Ambrose, Laura Stacey, and Ann-Renée Desbiens.
