Well, my friends! This is where we say our goodbyes.

With only one week left in the season, we’ve reached our final power rankings of the season, and this is where we part ways as you now have to find other ways to know which team is better (or other clouds to yell at) for the final few months. At the very least, the Calgary Flames and Columbus Blue Jackets have saved us from a boring final week thus far.

But how does every team look heading into the playoffs? You know the only way to find out…

Hunter Crowther and I summarize the season as best as we can with one final week of our co-op power rankings. I have my same old system in which I aggregate six stats (points %, 5-on-5 goal differential, 5-on-5 xGF/60, 5-on-5 xGA/60, power play xGF/60, and shorthanded xGA/60, all coming courtesy of Natural Stat Trick) to come up with a list that eliminates my own biases, along with a rule that no team can be above a team that’s more than five points ahead of them in the standings or has clinched a playoff spot when they haven’t, regardless of where the aggregate places them. On the other hand, Hunter goes off his own intellect and pure vibes, and together, we find a way to combine it and meet in the middle.

1. Winnipeg Jets

Record: 55-22-4, +85
Last Week: 1st (0)
Hunter’s Rank: 1st
Scott’s Rank: 1st

Hunter: The Jets officially clinched the Presidents’ Trophy on Sunday, setting a franchise record with 55 regular-season wins and tying their record of 114 regular-season points. Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele set career highs in assists and points, Connor Hellebuyck had another Vezina Trophy– and maybe Hart Trophy-caliber? – season, and they’re in as good a position as ever to win in the playoffs. There are lots of questions on if they’ll be able to handle either the Avalanche, Stars, Kings, or Golden Knights if they get past Round 1, but at some point, a team with as many wins and as good a goalie as they have goes on a run. This is Winnipeg’s time to take on the mantle of “Canada’s team.” Now it’s up to them to actually pull it off.

2. Vegas Golden Knights

Record: 49-22-9, +54
Last Week: 3rd (+1)
Hunter’s Rank: 2nd
Scott’s Rank: 2nd

Scott: With wins in four of their last five games, the Golden Knights are getting hot at just the right time, and with another Pacific Division under their belt, they seem set for the playoffs. Fun fact: the four previous times the Golden Knights have won their division, they’ve at least made it to the conference finals. I can’t say I have the utmost confidence in their goaltending against the big guns, but I think they’ll be more than fine against whoever they get in the first round.

3. Washington Capitals

Record: 50-21-9, +57
Last Week: 4th (+1)
Hunter’s Rank: 3rd
Scott’s Rank: 3rd

Hunter: Alex Ovechkin breaks Wayne Gretzky’s all-time goals record? Check. Jakob Chychrun has a career year and gets a new contract? Check. Spencer Carbery is the likely Jack Adams Award winner? Check. It’s been a near-perfect year for the Capitals, a team that’s clinched first place in the Eastern Conference and has been one of the game’s best stories of the year. So, why does it feel like they’re a paper tiger and won’t make it past Round 2? Is it the relative lack of playoff experience? The lack of depth beyond Ovechkin, Dylan Strome, Tom Wilson and John Carlson? The 3-6-1 record in their last 10 games? I’ve enjoyed watching Washington all season, I just don’t think we’ll be watching them for much longer.

Scott: I mean, the real answer is due to their mediocre defensive metrics that at least puts them out of the Cup contender conversation for me. They really just feel like the Canucks’ last season: they’re the hot story, they get some attention at the awards, and maybe they get into the second round by beating an easy opponent before they crumble against a true Cup contender.

Hunter: And that true Cup contender … is the MONTREAL CANADIENS. Hey Annakin Slayd, play my music!

4. Dallas Stars

Record: 50-24-6, +59
Last Week: 2nd (-2)
Hunter’s Rank: 4th
Scott’s Rank: 5th

Scott: The Stars have lost five games in a row, and any red flags I had about them going into the playoffs have become a five-bell alarm. I think the 6-5 loss to the Canucks that saw them blow a three-goal lead IN ONE MINUTE might be the biggest concern for me. Their defense is not good enough without Miro Heiskanen, and if they can’t close out a guaranteed win like that, I’m scared to see how they fare against Cup contenders if they think of themselves as one. At least their series against the Avs will be extremely entertaining, even without the “Mikko Rantanen returning to Colorado” narrative.

Hunter: I still think that first-round series against Colorado is going to be a bloodbath, and the winner of that might be the team who comes out of the West. But it’s feeling less and less likely it’s Dallas. Then again, all it takes is for Jake Oettinger to lose his marbles and hit the Avs with .948 goaltending.

Scott: If they can survive long enough for Heiskanen to come back, I’d feel a lot better about them, but even then, that right side is hard to overlook.

5. Los Angeles Kings

Record: 46-24-9, +42
Last Week: 5th (0)
Hunter’s Rank: 5th
Scott’s Rank: 4th

Hunter: When the Kings lost Drew Doughty in the preseason, I thought it was going to be a long year in Hollywood. But the emergence of Vladislav Gavrikov and Mikey Andersen as top-pair quality defenders, the ageless wonder in Anze Kopitar, Quinton Byfield finding his game in the last quarter of the season, and Jim Hiller’s suffocating style of hockey has been a recipe for winning in a ruthless Western Conference. As they prepare for their fourth consecutive matchup against the Oilers in Round 1, you can’t help but wonder: is this the year?

Scott: One other big change from years previous: they actually have the goaltending this year. Their starters the past three times they played Edmonton were a 36-year-old Jonathan Quick, Joonas Korpisalo, and a 36-year-old Cam Talbot. Yes, Darcy Kuemper is no spring chicken at 34, but he’s putting up almost Vezina-caliber numbers, and he has a Cup win under his belt as well. Considering Stuart Skinner’s struggles before his concussion, this could get interesting.

6. Colorado Avalanche

Record: 49-29-4, +43
Last Week: 8th (+2)
Hunter’s Rank: 6th
Scott’s Rank: 8th

Hunter: Everyone and their neighbor thought this year’s Avalanche would take a year off, considering the goaltending struggles out of the gate and the uncertainty around Mikko Rantanen. Well, that didn’t last long. They completely reshaped their crease, bringing in Mackenzie Blackwood and Scott Wedgewood, who both have played well beyond whatever expectations. They didn’t hesitate and traded away Rantanen, and then Martin Necas filled in seamlessly. Oh yeah, they have two Hart Trophy-caliber players in Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar. There’s a handful of true Cup contenders in the league, and they’re one of them.

7. Tampa Bay Lightning

Record: 46-26-8, +75
Last Week: 6th (-1)
Hunter’s Rank: 8th
Scott’s Rank: 7th

Scott: With losses in four of their last six games, the Lightning appear to have slipped out of the race for the Atlantic. They’ll be in tough against the Panthers in the first round, but this is still the best they’ve looked in three seasons, so they should be up to the task. Also, with Nathan MacKinnon not playing until the playoffs, it’s safe to say Nikita Kucherov will win his second-straight Art Ross. And yet, there isn’t a lot of conversation surrounding him for the Hart Trophy. What gives?!

Hunter: Because if you watched his 2024 All-Star performance, it’s clear he has no h(e)art (if you can’t tell that’s sarcasm, and if you actually got mad at Kucherov at All-Star weekend, you need to find your closest city park and touch grass.)

8. Edmonton Oilers

Record: 47-28-5, +25
Last Week: 10th (+2)
Hunter’s Rank: 10th
Scott’s Rank: 6th

Scott: With Connor McDavid back in the lineup, the Oilers have won three straight and look in better shape. Even Skinner looked great in his first game back on Sunday. But man, the news about Mattias Ekholm completely alters any projection for this team down the stretch. He was the defensive crutch of this team, and after making a big move at the deadline to fill the hole in their top four with Jake Walman, they’re right back where they started. Along with that, this news could have just slammed the Oilers’ championship window shut. Ekholm will be 35 in a month, so who knows how good he’ll be when – or if – he returns? That’s a bad outlook for their blueline.

9. Toronto Maple Leafs

Record: 50-26-4, +32
Last Week: 9th (0)
Hunter’s Rank: 7th
Scott’s Rank: 10th

Hunter: One thing on the laundry list of annoying things about the Maple Leafs is how their lack of playoff success writes off any excitement driven from the regular season. Toronto fans are experiencing some of the best seasons in their lifetimes, and they can’t enjoy it because they know come mid-April, it all goes down the drain, usually in seven games. You want to tell them that their performance in the regular season can guide them into the playoffs, but no one wants to hear that. Single-season goal records or 100-point campaigns are meaningless bar trivia questions on a Wednesday night in 2045 if this generation of Leaf players can’t get it done in the playoffs. Just drop the puck and go on the type of run this fanbase desperately needs.

Scott: At the very least, they can’t complain about the quality of competition in the first round. I mean, the last time they had a playoff series against a Canadian team as the experienced favourites, that went well, right?

Hunter: Bah God, that’s Annakin Slayd’s music! If this keeps up, I’m going to have to post the Bloge Salming version of the song

10. Carolina Hurricanes

Record: 47-28-5, +37
Last Week: 7th (-3)
Hunter’s Rank: 9th
Scott’s Rank: 9th

Scott: As we enter the playoffs, everyone knows what to expect from the Canes. They’re a strong defensive team with a suffocating forecheck, and more often than not, they’ll dominate play. But, they still haven’t solved their goal-scoring problem (unless it’s somehow Taylor Hall and Mark Jankowski), and that will leave anyone with doubts. Just look at their 4-1 loss to the Leafs on Sunday. Strong play, and they were arguably the better team, and yet they just couldn’t finish while the Leafs could. On paper, they should beat the paper tiger teams like the Leafs, but those are always the teams that bounce them prematurely.

11. Florida Panthers

Record: 47-29-4, +35
Last Week: 11th (0)
Hunter’s Rank: 11th
Scott’s Rank: 11th

Hunter: Here’s the thing: I don’t know what to expect out of this Panthers team. I spent most of the season thinking, “Just wait until the playoffs; they’ll be ready.” Part of me still thinks that, mainly because there’s too much Stanley Cup pedigree for them not to do some damage. But with the injuries and inconsistent play since the March 8 trade deadline, that gut feeling isn’t sitting well. Or that could be the leftovers I had for dinner. Do Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Bennett come back 100 percent? Is Aaron Ekblad going to be ready for Game 2? Will two consecutive Stanley Cup Final appearances catch up to them?

Scott: I still really love this Panthers team, and they’d still be my pick to come out of the Eastern Conference. But those uncertainties do give me pause. Along with everything Hunter mentioned, there’s a lot riding on a 36-year-old Sergei Bobrovsky playing like he has for the past two seasons. I wouldn’t say I doubt him. But with Spencer Knight out of the picture, if Bob falters, their contingency plan is Vitek Vanecek. That’s… a bit scary.

12. New Jersey Devils

Record: 41-32-7, +22
Last Week: 12th (0)
Hunter’s Rank: 12th
Scott’s Rank: 12th

Hunter: I mean, what can you say? Injuries have hurt this team all year, including losing Jack Hughes for the year. Jacob Markstrom isn’t performing as well as they had hoped. They’ve been locked into the third spot in the Metropolitan Division for so long that playing the Hurricanes in Round 1 is a foregone conclusion. Of all the first-round matchups, doesn’t Carolina vs. New Jersey feel like the one that’s most certain of a winner? Now that I’ve said that, they will take down the Hurricanes in six.

Scott: Well, Dougie Hamilton has been skating again, so that could certainly shift the tides a little bit. But yeah, I’d be very surprised if they win the Stanley Cup this year, even though a fully healthy team would be one of the favourites.

Hunter: Does any player get overlooked or shorted on respect more than Hamilton? I know the analytics community and chunks of the Devils’ fanbase love him, but it feels like he’s disregarded more than any high-quality player in this league.

Scott: Any player who chooses a museum over Moxies deserves to be overlooked in the league, in my opinion.

13. Ottawa Senators

Record: 44-30-6, +8
Last Week: 15th (+2)
Hunter’s Rank: 14th
Scott’s Rank: 13th

Scott: We’re officially going to get playoff hockey in Ottawa for the first time since 2018, and this might be one of the teams I’m most excited to watch in the playoffs. It’ll be interesting to see how this young core of Tim Stutzle, Drake Batherson, Dylan Cozens, Jake Sanderson, Thomas Chabot, and especially Brady Tkachuk handles the playoffs, and the Leafs may be a dream matchup for them. Sure, the Leafs have more experience, but they also have a lot more pressure, and the Sens could very easily thrive off of that. At the very least, the Leafs are a much more winnable series for the Sens than the Lightning or the Panthers.

Hunter: Leaf fans reading this: Do the smart thing and place an emotional hedge bet on the Senators. Just trust me.

14. Minnesota Wild

Record: 44-30-7, -12
Last Week: 14th (0)
Hunter’s Rank: 13th
Scott’s Rank: 14th

Hunter: It’s time for the final 2024-25 edition of the “We Are So Back O’Meter,” this time starring the Wild. For a while, it felt like Minnesota might slip out of the playoffs, despite banking so many points earlier in the season. But the team received two Christmas presents in April with the return of Kirill Kaprizov and Joel Eriksson Ek, who combined for six goals in their return matchup against the Sharks last Wednesday. I don’t know if they’ll advance past Round 1, but whether it’s the Jets or Golden Knights, the Wild might give their opponent a scare.

Scott: I can’t quite describe the fury I had when, as a Kaprizov owner on a fantasy team that could have certainly used my best player as my team blew the championship final, I watched Kaprizov return THE VERY NEXT GAME and continue to play well. The fantasy hockey gods truly are cruel.

15. St. Louis Blues

Record: 43-30-8, +16
Last Week: 13th (-2)
Hunter’s Rank: 15th
Scott’s Rank: 15th

Scott: The Blues have lost three straight games after their franchise-record 12-game winning streak. And since the Flames refuse to die, that’s put their playoff spot from a certainty to a bit more at risk. Here’s what we do know, though. They have one game left in the season on Tuesday against Utah at 8 p.m.. If they win in regulation, they’re in. If they don’t, then their season is at the whim of the Flames, who start their game an hour later that day, and have one more on Thursday. Buckle up folks, this could get interesting.

16. Calgary Flames

Record: 39-27-14, -18
Last Week: 16th (0)
Hunter’s Rank: 17th
Scott’s Rank: 17th

Hunter: In the last few weeks, I’ve assumed the Flames were too far back and weren’t going to make the playoffs. Dustin Wolf’s season was impressive, and it was nice to see veterans like Jonathan Huberdeau and Nazem Kadri succeed. But it felt like it was too little, too late. Shows what I know. Now with just two games to go, the Flames have a chance of passing the Blues for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference. Will they? Who cares, they’re having fun.

17. Montreal Canadiens

Record: 39-31-10, -21
Last Week: 17th (0)
Hunter’s Rank: 16th
Scott’s Rank: 18th

Scott: A 4-1 win over the Red Wings last Tuesday looked like it was all but official that the Habs were going to be back in the playoffs. And yet, two straight losses over the weekend and four straight wins from the Blue Jackets have kept this race alive for just a little bit longer. Their fate is still in their hands, but it’s best that they use that power while they can.

Hunter: Playoff prediction: if Montreal holds on, they’re going to play three home games in Round 1. Viva Les Habitants!

18. Columbus Blue Jackets

Record: 38-33-9, -3
Last Week: 23rd (+5)
Hunter’s Rank: 18th
Scott’s Rank: 16th

Scott: I had prematurely written the Blue Jackets’ eulogy last week, and now the league’s favourite story won’t end just yet. They had a perfect week that has put them right back in the hunt, although they still need a lot to go their way to make that happen. At the very least, this race has come down to the two most interesting options: the historic market of Montreal thirsting for playoff hockey or the underdog Blue Jackets that fought for Johnny Gaudreau to the very end. So much better than the Islanders sneaking into the last spot and getting classed in five games while playing the most boring hockey possible.

19. Utah Hockey Club

Record: 37-30-13, -9
Last Week: 18th (-1)
Hunter’s Rank: 19th
Scott’s Rank: 19th

Scott: Utah is considered both mine and Hunter’s best team officially eliminated from the playoffs, and for good reason. They played exceptionally well this year and honestly should have been closer to the dance than they were if they hadn’t had to deal with all of those injuries. I’m very interested to see if they make another big splash in the summer to put this core over the top and give the city of Utah their first taste of playoff action.

Hunter: When Utah went out and acquired Mikhail Sergachev from the Lightning last summer, it told me that A) Bill Armstrong is a craftier GM than we gave him credit for, and B) new owner Ryan Smith is more willing to spend than previous ownership. Now with a rising salary cap and Utah having a chance to sell itself as a top market, expect them to put all their chips in next season.

20. Vancouver Canucks

Record: 37-29-14, -15
Last Week: 19th (-1)
Hunter’s Rank: 20th
Scott’s Rank: 20th

Scott: On one hand, this season has been a massive disappointment for the Canucks. After finishing atop the Pacific Division and taking the Oilers to Game 7 in the second round last season, they’re out of the playoffs this season with a week to spare. But on the other hand, Vancouver probably has a massive sense of relief. The season was a Murphy’s law-fuelled nightmare of chaos, and to just get it over with might be just what they need. That said, this summer will still be interesting. Brock Boeser and Rick Tocchet might be gone, and who knows how the organization feels about Elias Pettersson in a post-J.T. Miller world. The chaos may not be over yet.

21. New York Rangers

Record: 37-36-7, -5
Last Week: 20th (-1)
Hunter’s Rank: 21st
Scott’s Rank: 22nd

Hunter: It feels like we can comfortably say that Peter Laviolette is as good as gone this summer, and that this team is in desperate need of a major overhaul. Artemi Panarin scored 30 less points than in 2023-24, Adam Fox had flashes of bad play, Mika Zibanejad took a step back and Steven Ellis-lookalike Alexis Lafreniere couldn’t find a groove. Igor Shesterkin makes too much damn money for this team to waste prime years on that kind of goaltending. This season was a write-off. Figure it out in 2025-26.

22. New York Islanders

Record: 35-33-12, -29
Last Week: 21st (-1)
Hunter’s Rank: 22nd
Scott’s Rank: 23rd

Hunter: I’m not saying this to try and be clever or be a smartass: why would Patrick Roy want to stay? I watched more Islanders games than I should have this season But when I did, he always looked in pain, or angry, or exasperated. This past season didn’t look fun, so why bother staying another year? I don’t know what or where Roy’s next job will be, but it can’t be any worse than staying on Long Island. Oh, and get Mathew Barzal out of there. I want to see him compete and have a chance at winning, he’s too talented to be stuck there.

23. Pittsburgh Penguins

Record: 33-36-12, -53
Last Week: 22nd (-1)
Hunter’s Rank: 24th
Scott’s Rank: 21st

Hunter: Speaking of teams with players who need to get out … we tease it each week, how the Penguins have clearly accepted their role as “team that needs to begin the rebuild A$AP Rocky,” but they continue holding onto these future Hall of Famers. Maybe the reason ownership gave Kyle Dubas a seven-year deal was that they knew the first two or three would be stalled pain, and that patience would be required. But after seeing Sidney Crosby comfortably compete against the world’s best at the 4 Nations Face-Off, it’s time for a frank conversation about 2025-26.

24. Detroit Red Wings

Record: 37-35-7, -25
Last Week: 25th (-1)
Hunter’s Rank: 23rd
Scott’s Rank: 25th

Scott: I feel like I keep saying “this team will be the most interesting one to watch this summer.” But Detroit might actually be that team for the sole reason of watching the franchise undergo an existential crisis as they decide whether they should fire a franchise legend in Steve Yzerman. In a vacuum, that has to be the easiest decision they make this summer, And yet I wouldn’t be shocked if they don’t. We’re in year six of the Yzerplan, and yet we have zero results, and a clear indication that the reason for their lack of success has been because of his decisions, especially on the blueline. I do not envy Detroit in this process.

25. Buffalo Sabres

Record: 35-38-7, -17
Last Week: 24th (+1)
Hunter’s Rank: 25th
Scott’s Rank: 24th

Hunter: The Sabres almost did enough winning to trick us, but there they go, losing three straight and coming back down to Earth faster than Wile E. Coyote off the cliff. My expectations were low, and I was still disappointed. I’d say at least they have the NFL’s Bills and Josh Allen, but according to Google, Patrick Mahomes hasn’t retired and the Chiefs are still good. Maybe it’s time to take one of their former No. 1 overall picks and make one of those headline-grabbing trades that both confuses and excites a fanbase. Or maybe just do something other than lose.

Scott: As a Miami Dolphins fan, I’d take no greater pleasure than seeing the Chiefs take a step back and leave the door open for the Bills, only for Lamar Jackson and the Ravens to just overtake them. Or maybe Joe Burrows and the Bengals will figure it out.

Hunter: Joe Burrow feels like too talented of a QB, along with Ja’Marr Chase being too talented of a receiver, for them to keep missing the playoffs. I’d like to see the Bengals come out of the AFC North next season.

26. Anaheim Ducks

Record: 35-37-8, -40
Last Week: 27th (-1)
Hunter’s Rank: 26th
Scott’s Rank: 28th

Hunter: They had a brief window a month or so ago where the Ducks were right there with the Canucks and Flames and you thought, “Could they? COULD THEY?!” Well, no, they couldn’t, but for a good chunk of the 2024-25 season, Anaheim was really fun to watch. Mason McTavish and Leo Carlsson took steps forward, Lukas Dostal has flashes of brilliance, and Cutter Gauthier is going to be a stud in this league. There’s lots to like about this team going forward.

27. Philadelphia Flyers

Record: 33-37-10, -44
Last Week: 28th (-1)
Hunter’s Rank: 27th
Scott’s Rank: 27th

Scott: All the talk last season regarding the Flyers seemed to be “if you gave Danny Briere truth serum, would he be happy the team is competitive or mad that they aren’t tanking?” Well, after a much more disappointing season, is Danny Briere happy that they have a better draft pick, or mad they took a step back? If it’s any consolation, the Flyers were the best non-playoff team in expected goal share this season at 53.44%, so they certainly have the foundation of a solid team, they just need more talent to surround Matvei Michkov. Oh, and a goalie, that’s probably the most glaring hole out of any team in the league right now.

28. Boston Bruins

Record: 33-39-9, -49
Last Week: 26th (+2)
Hunter’s Rank: 28th
Scott’s Rank: 26th

Hunter: Honestly, I’m impressed. They clung on after firing their coach and looked like they might have squeezed out another playoff appearance, but they traded everyone and the kitchen sink to move down the standings, and now there’s a better-than-zero chance they end up with the No. 1 overall pick. The Hockey Gods work in mysterious ways, and their cruelty knows no bounds, or shares any reason. Boston sports will never know the struggle in the 21st century. So be it.

29. Seattle Kraken

Record: 35-40-6, -17
Last Week: 29th (0)
Hunter’s Rank: 29th
Scott’s Rank: 29th

Hunter: Last summer’s free agent signings didn’t work and it feels like changes will be made for the Kraken next season. Does Dan Bylsma get another shot behind the bench? How about Ron Francis, who put together this underperforming lineup? Who in the Pacific DIvision do you see taking a step back in order for Seattle to move up? Too many questions for a team many of us thought would improve off of last season’s disappointment. Then again, what’s that say about our analysis?

30. Nashville Predators

Record: 29-43-8, -60
Last Week: 30th (0)
Hunter’s Rank: 30th
Scott’s Rank: 30th

Scott: I think I’ve said what I needed to say about the Predators for the past month or so. They really feel like a team that will be back with a vengeance next season considering how well they’ve played under the hood for the back half of the season. Again, I’m not expecting them to be inching towards Cup contention like many did last summer, or even coast to a playoff spot, but I think they’ll be back in the fight after landing a top five pick, along with other improvements.

31. Chicago Blackhawks

Record: 23-46-11, -72
Last Week: 31st (0)
Hunter’s Rank: 31st
Scott’s Rank: 31st

Scott: You know it’s been a tough season for the Blackhawks when Pat Maroon and Alec Martinez couldn’t be bothered to play the final two games of the season and just retired on Saturday for the home finale. Then again, I don’t blame them. Who would want to leave Chicago (the city, not the team)? I will be very interested to see a) who they go after this summer to continue to build around Bedard and try to get them out of the basement, and b) who will actually want to sign with them.

32. San Jose Sharks

Record: 20-49-11, -101
Last Week: 31st (0)
Hunter’s Rank: 31st
Scott’s Rank: 31st

Scott: The Sharks have officially locked down the best odds for the draft lottery this season, but hear me out – it might not be great news if they do win it this year. Don’t get me wrong, getting the top prospect is always good news, and the Sharks could certainly use a bright piece on their blueline like Matthew Schaefer. But considering that that would mean that , I can’t help but look ahead to Gavin McKenna next season, and Landon DuPont the season after, and wonder if using up their second draft lottery win within five years on this year’s draft is the best option. If the Sharks think this is the last year that they’ll be in the basement, then it’s not a problem. But if they are back here for a few more years, they might be missing out on the truly game-changing talent coming up.
