Pavol Regenda signs one-year extension with Anaheim Ducks
The Anaheim Ducks have signed Pavol forward Regenda to a one-year, $775,000 contract extension.
Regenda has spent the past two years with the Ducks’ organization, registering one goals and three points in 19 NHL games. Regenda has mainly been an AHLer in that time, scoring 19 goals and 34 points in a solid sophomore season with the San Diego Gulls.
After bouncing around various leagues and countries early in his career, the Ducks signed Regenda as an undrafted free agent signing in 2022. He was fresh off a big year that saw him win bronze at the Winter Olympic Games and carry that over to a great showing at the World Championship with Slovakia. He’s been a solid contributor with his nation internationally in recent years, scoring eight goals and 14 points in 23 World Championship contests.
According to CapFriendly, the Ducks have $29.943 million in projected cap space while boasting a full roster. Jackson LaCombe is the only restricted free agent needing a contract, while Nikita Nesternko will require a new deal as an RFA with San Diego.
The Ducks finished 30th in the NHL this season, two spots ahead of their last-place finish in 2022-23. Anaheim will likely miss the playoffs again next year, but they’re working on building a strong group with their young core that’s still trying to work out the kinks.
On Friday, the Ducks also signed forward Beckett Sennecke and defenseman Stian Solberg to three-year, entry-level contracts.
