Blues’ Adam Jecho to receive care from NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program
A notable prospect is stepping away from the game to receive some help.
On Friday, the National Hockey League and the NHL Players’ Association announced that St. Louis Blues forward Adam Jecho is set to receive care from the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program.
Per a release, Jecho will be unavailable to participate in any team activities for an indefinite period of time. He’ll be able to rejoin the Blues when he’s cleared for on-ice competition by program administrators.
The 20-year-old was set to begin his first season of professional hockey this fall. Originally taken by the Blues in the third round, 95th overall, of the 2024 NHL Draft, Jecho signed his three-year, entry-level contract in March 2025. His first season was pushed to this year after he finished his junior hockey career with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League. Last season, serving as an assistant captain, he posted 10 goals and 36 points in 47 games, the lowest point total of his three years in Edmonton. Yet, it was enough to help the Oil Kings finish second in the Central Division and fourth in the Eastern Conference. However, the team was upended by the sixth-seeded Saskatoon Blades in seven games. Jecho notched a goal and four points in the series.
In 157 regular-season games with the Oil Kings, Jecho scored 58 goals and 78 assists for 136 points, with another seven points in 14 playoff contests.
The Zlin, Czechia native has some significant international experience under his belt. He’s represented his country at the 2022 Under-17 World Hockey Challenge, two IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championships, three Hlinka Gretzky Cups and the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship. He helped Czechia take home the bronze at the World Juniors, as well as finished second at the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.
Jecho was expected to join the Blues’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds, at the beginning of the 2026-27 season.
The Blues’ training camp is scheduled to begin on Sept. 17, with the team’s first regular-season game set for Oct. 2 against the Dallas Stars.
