The St. Louis Blues have signed depth defenseman Corey Schueneman to a one-year, $775k contract Monday.

Schueneman spent the 2023-24 campaign with the Colorado Avalanche’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate the Colorado Eagles where he collected four goals and 18 assists for 22 points in 64 games. He appeared in three Calder Cup Playoff contests but was held pointless.

Schueneman’s production last year was similar to his 2022-23 output while with the Montreal Canadiens AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket; he registered 23 points in 62 games. He also appeared in seven games with the Canadiens, recording one assist. He has appeared in 31 career NHL games over the course of his career, tallying two goals and seven points.

Schueneman has appeared in 244 AHL games over parts of six seasons with the Stockton Heat, Laval Rocket and Colorado Eagles and has tallied 21 goals and 69 assists for 90 points in that frame.

The 28-year-old signed with the Stockton Heat of the AHL as a free agent in 2019 after spending four seasons with Western Michigan University. He tallied 82 points in 144 games in the NCAA and captained the Broncos during the 2018-19 campaign.

Schueneman joins Kasperi Kapanen as the July 1st signing for the Blues so far. St. Louis also acquired and extended Alexandre Texier to a two-year, $4.2 million contract during the NHL Draft on June 28.
