Edstrom was a late addition to the Rangers lineup on Friday after Nick Bonino (illness) was deemed unable to go following warmups. The 23-year-old has seven goals and two assists in 21 games with Hartford (AHL) this season.
Edstrom had seven goals, two assists, 14 PIMs and a +5 plus/minus in 21 games with Hartford (AHL) and has earned his first NHL call up Friday. The 23-year-old Swedish forward was the Rangers 2019 sixth-round pick (161st overall) and came over after four seasons with Rogle BK of the SHL in 2022-23.
Edstrom did not see any NHL time during his very brief call up and will head back to Hartford (AHL) on Tuesday. The 23-year-old forward has yet to make his NHL debut but heads back to Hartford, where he had seven goals, two assists, 14 PIMs and a +6 plus/minus in 18 games prior to his promotion.
Edstrom and Jonny Brodzinski have both been recalled in moves corresponding to Connor Mackey being reassigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL. Edstrom was drafted 161st overall by the Rangers in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and is still awaiting his NHL debut but has played well with Hartford this season, scoring nine points (7G / 2A) in 18 games.
