Chiasson, 27, spent last year in Calgary after two years in Ottawa and had 12 goals and 12 assists (24 points) in 81 games. Chiasson will make his Capitals debut on the third line while Tom Wilson is suspended.

Chaisson was hit in the face be a puck that deflected off of the stick of Jordie Benn in practice Wednesday. He was wearing a clear facemask along with his visor and skating in his normal spot this morning. “Yesterday, for an hour or two, it was kind of scary,” Chiasson said. “I’m glad I’m good. It’s part of the game, and it’s nobody’s fault. It’s going to be sore for a couple of days, but I’ll be OK to go tonight.”
Stars coach Lindy Ruff did not have much of an update after practice. “I know he got hit in the face and he’s going to be evaluated,” Ruff said. “He hit him pretty hard, so we are concerned there might be some damage.” At this point, Chiasson’s status for Thursday’s game against the New York Rangers at is up in the air.
