Wennberg has been out since the season opener, but his return to practice on Monday is a good sign that he’ll be back in the lineup shortly. Wennberg was centring a line with Brandon Saad and Scott Hartnell, which could be a strong offensive line when Wennberg is cleared to play.
Wennberg suffered a concussion in the season opener and was placed on IR this morning in order to create a roster spot to recall a forward from Lake Erie (AHL).
Wennberg suffered a concussion in Friday’s loss to the Rangers after being hit by Chris Kreider, who was not penalized on the play. This is not an ideal start to the season for the Blue Jackets, who led the MHL with 508 man-games lost to injury last year.
Wennberg missed the last four games, but he will be back in tonight vs. the Devils. Wennberg had one goal and four assists in his previous four games prior to getting injured. He is expected to centre the third line with Scott Hartnell and Marko Dano.

Wennberg had to hang back in Vancouver because an infected hand would not allow him to fly back to Columbus. Wennberg is finally back in Columbus but still is not expected to be in the lineup tomorrow.
Wennberg played 14:27 on Saturday, which was his lowest on-ice total since February 19th, which suggests he may have suffered an injury vs. Colorado. There is no word when he suffered it or what the nature of the injury is, but he is questionable for Tuesday’s game. Wennberg has registered two assists in his last three games.

Wennberg was sent down on Sunday but it was just a 'paper move' so they could activate Ryan Murray (knee) from IR. Today they placed Matt Calvert (upper-body) on IR to make room for Wennberg to be added back to the 23-man roster.

He recorded 16 goals and five assists for 21 points with eight penalty minutes in 50 games with Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League in 2013-14. The Stockholm, Sweden native was the club’s first pick, 14th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft.
