The Sabres signed Andre Benoit to a one-year contract at $800K.
Benoit, 30, had seven goals and 21 assists (28 points) in 79 games in his first full NHL season with the Avalanche last season. He joins a crowded, young D corp in Buffalo where he will serve as their sixth or seventh defenseman.
Line Change
Benoit will serve as a healthy scratch Sunday.
With Erik Johnson returning from a two-game suspension, someone has to take a seat on the Avalanche blueline. Benoit has one goal and two assists with a plus-3 rating in his last 10 games.
Injury
Benoit (wrist) will not play tonight.
Benoit will sit out tonight but the Avalanche say that his wrist injury is not serious. Matt Hunwick will slide onto the Avalanche blueline and skate alongside Cory Sarich. Consider Benoit day-to-day and questionable for Tuesday vs. Chicago.
Line Change
Eric Gryba will not play tonight. Benoit will be in for him.
Benoit scored three goals and added seven assists in 33 games for the Senators this season.
