Andy Miele News

Miele, 28, is a former Hobey Baker Award winner, but has only appeared in 15 career NHL games since turning pro in 2011-12. The Flyers signed him to a one-way contract, which means that he should get a shot with the Flyers out of training camp. He spent the last two years with the Grand Rapids Griffins, where he had a 70 and a 62-point season.

Miele has recorded two assists with five penalty minutes in seven games with the Coyotes this season. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound forward has also posted 23 goals, 34 assists and 60 PIM in 56 games with Portland (AHL).

Miele is undersized at 5-foot-8, 175 lbs. but has been great with Portland this season. Miele has recorded 23 goals and 35 assists (58 points) in 56 games.

Miele had two assists and a plus-2 rating in four games with the Coyotes.

Miele will centre the Coyotes third line with Tim Kennedy and David Moss. Miele has five goals and three assists in six games with Portland.

Miele has no points through seven NHL games and likely needs more AHL seasoning.

The reigning Hobey Baker Award winner has eight goals and 23 points through 24 games with the Portland Pirates.

The diminutive center went through a strong training camp but did not survive the final cuts. The Hobey Baker winner should find his way onto one of the bottom two lines.

No immediate fantasy hockey value in the AHL.

As a strong two-way forward, Miele should make the team in place of Kyle Turris. He fills coach Dave Tippett's need for another defensively responsible forward while injecting more youth into the lineup.

The diminutive center certainly will make a case to make the NHL this season. The Hobey Baker winner should earn a spot on the bottom two lines by next season.
