Welinkski has four goals, 16 points, 12 PIMs and a -16 plus/minus through 40 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL) and has been dealt to Chicago as part of the Patrick Kane deal in a three-team trade with the Rangers and Coyotes.
Andy Welinski News
Welinski was a healthy scratch for the first three games of the season but will make his season debut tonight vs. the Wild. He will replace Josh Manson, who is sidelined with an upper-body injury.
Welinski played the entire 2020 campaign in Lehigh Valley (AHL), where he had eight goals and 13 assists (21 points) in 42 games. Welinski has only appeared in 33 NHL games since being drafted in the third-round in 2011. After one year in the Flyers organization, Welinski returns to the Ducks and likely the San Diego Gulls (AHL).
Welinski started the season on IR with a lower-body injury but was activated and waived on Monday. The 26-year-old had 19 points (8G / 11A) in 27 AHL games with San Diego (AHL) last year. Waiving Welinski and sending him down opened up the cap-space and roster spot for the Flyers to sign Chris Stewart.
Welinski, 25, has split his 2018-19 season right down the middle, playing 19 NHL games and 18 AHL games. With Korbinian Holzer returning to Germany for a family matter, Welinski has been called up and is expected to play on Thursday. The former third-round pick has two assists with the Ducks this year and four assists in 26 career NHL games overall.
Welinski heads back to the AHL because the Ducks needed to call-up Jared Coreau after Ryan Miller got hurt on Sunday. Welinski has six points (2G / 4A) in eight games with San Diego.
Welinski had one assist in nine games with the Ducks earlier this season, but had six points (2G / 4A) in eight games after being sent back to San Diego. He could replace Josh Mahura in the lineup on Sunday.
Welinski, 24, was a third round pick (No.83 overall) in 2011 and was expected to have a chance to make the team out of training camp, but started the year in San Diego. Welinski has registered six goals and 11 assists (17 points) in 21 games with the Gulls and is expected to replace Jaycob Megna in the lineup vs. the Hurricanes.
