Bill Sweatt News

Tonight's game will be the first for winger Bill Sweatt, who injured his shoulder in the prospects tournament in Penticton. He's missed his first two chances to play in a preseason game, so finds himself behind the eight ball and needs to show something tonight.

Sweatt could make the team out of camp but will need to impress right away. He scored 19 goals last season, his first in the professional ranks. Expect him to get his feet wet at some point this year.

“We’re just going to be real cautious and make sure that he’s as close to 100 per cent as possible when main camp gets going on the 16th. We’re really going to air on the side of being conservative with him and make sure that he’s healthy enough to compete for a position.”

In his first AHL season, Sweatt scored 19 goals and 47 points. Known for his speed and two-way play, the Illinois native should earn a spot on the bottom two lines this season or next.
