After a solid start to the 2024-25 season, recording two points (1G / 1A), 36 blocks, 28 hits, and a +11 plus/minus through 16 games, McNabb has been rewarded with a three-year, $10.95 million contract extension. The 33-year-old McNabb is in his 13th NHL season, spending the previous eight with the Golden Knights.
Mcnabb hasn't played since Game 4 of Round 1 vs. Winnipeg due to an upper-body injury but is expected to return to the Golden Knights lineup for Game 1 vs. Edmonton after being the first skater on the ice for morning skate. The 32-year-old has yet to pick up a point in the playoffs but has six SOG, two PIMs and a +2 plus/minus through four games prior to his injury.
McNabb has missed the last 13 games with an arm injury that he suffered on March 3rd. McNabb, who has 11 points (2G / 9A) in 55 games this season, will skate on a pair with Shea Theodore.
McNabb has been with the Golden Knights since the beginning, averaging four goals, 11 assists, 87 shots, 215 hits and 166 blocked shots per 82 games in four and half seasons with Vegas. McNabb was set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
McNabb missed Game 6 after being added to the COVID-19 reserve list but the Golden Knights are hopeful that he will be available for Game 7. Head coach Pete DeBoer said that "after a positive test you must have multiple negative tests to prove it was a false positive, and they’re still waiting on those results."
McNabb has been sidelined by a lower-body injury since January 26th but could be back on Monday. Head coach Pete DeBoer said that if McNabb doesn't play tonight, "it will be soon."
The Golden Knights gave no indication of what is ailing McNabb or how serious it is but placing him on IR will force him to miss at least seven days. With McNabb out, Nick Holden was recalled from the taxi squad and should make his season debut on Thursday.
McNabb suffered an upper-body injury last night and has been placed on IR. With McNabb out, Matt Greene will play on Sunday in Chicago. There's no word on how long McNabb is expected to be out, but his movement to IR means that he will miss at least the next four games.
After sitting out the season opener on Wednesday, McNabb is expected to replace Matt Greene in the lineup tonight vs. the Coyotes. McNabb had 24 points (2G / 22A) in 71 games with the Kings last season.
McNabb has three assists and a plus-3 rating in his last three games, but will take a seat with Jamie McBain coming back into the lineup.
