Bryan Bickell News
Bickell, 30, has one goal in seven games this season, but multiple sclerosis will make it very difficult for Bickell to return to the ice. Josh Harding was able to deal with it in Minnesota for one season, but is out of professional hockey all together now. Don’t expect to see Bickell on the ice anytime in the near future.
Bickell cleared waivers back on October 3rd, but stayed with the team through the first month of the season. Bickell served as a healthy scratch in four of the last five games. He had no points and a minus-3 rating in seven games this season.
Bickell played on the top line on Saturday, but will go from the top line to the press box tonight vs. Florida. Bickell has no points in six games this season.
Bickell, who was placed on waivers on Friday, cleared on Saturday at noon but head coach Joel Quenneville said Bickell will not be sent to Rockford (AHL) at this time. The Blackhawks have been trying to move Bickell, who carries a $4M cap-hit but has had an impossible time finding someone to take on the contract.
If Bickell clears waivers, the Blackhawks could send him to the AHL and save about $950K in cap space. Chicago reportedly tried to trade Bickell all summer but could not find a suitor for his $4M cap-hit.
Bickell has missed the last six games with an upper-body injury, but will be back in tomorrow vs. the Wild. Jonathan Toews out, Bickell in? Does not really seem like a recipe for success, but we are almost in the post-season where Bickell splashed onto the scene last season.
Bickell will miss his fifth straight game with an upper-body injury. He should not be far from a return.
Bickell will miss his fourth straight game with an upper-body injury. The Blackhawks did not rule him out for Friday's meeting with the Senators.
Bickell skated with the team this morning and is expected to travel with the Blackhawks on their upcoming three-game road-trip. Tonight will be the third straight game that he has missed.
Coach Quenneville said that Bickell's injury is not serious and he should not miss an extended period of time. Consider him day-to-day. The Blackhawks will dress seven defensemen with Bickell, Brandon Saad and Patrick Kane all out.
Bickell missed nearly one month after being injured on November 19. He appeared in 22 games before getting hurt, he recorded five goals and one assist. He will skate on the third line with Andrew Shaw and Brandon Saad.
Bickell has not played since November 19 against the Avalanche. In 22 games this season he has registered five goals and one assist. With his activation from IR the Blackhawks have returned Jeremy Morin to the AHL. Bickell will likely make up one of the NHL's best third lines with Andrew Shaw and Brandon Saad.
Bickell has missed the last 12 games with a lower-body injury that he suffered in the first period of a game vs. Colorado on November 19. He has not been the offensive force that he was in last year's playoffs (5G /1A in 22 games) but his physical presence will be a welcomed addition to the Blackhawks lineup.
